What a tobacco company says

The government has known for YEARS that smoking is a danger to everyone. How long has it been since you have seen a commercial for cigs?? Yet, every sporting event promotes alcohol. Yes I agree that alcohol is as dangerous or even more so than smoking, but the amount of money the government makes off both of them is insane. The reason they will never legalize pot, herion, meth is because the government can not keep them in a controlled environment for taxing purposes. Just my opionion.... I do agree with Rusty on the fact that it is OUR decision to partake in smoking, drinking, eating, or anything else for that matter. I just think it is sad that so many of us has or does do such horrible things to our bodies and can only say Congrats to each of us for taking the steps to do our bodies right!!! Its been 25 hours since my last one....

Well it has been 25 hours since I put down the smokes. I had to quit 2 days early because I had a tooth pulled yesterday. I am actually doing quite well. I am on day 7 of the Chantix and I would have to say as a heavy smoker most of my life, it is the best stop smoking method I have ever used. I am having minimal, if any, withdrawls. Seems I had a hard day after I increased the dosage of meds, but with everyones help and support in here, I got through it. I have one more dosage increase, so we will see... The support in here is great and I appreciate everyone here. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 46 Amount Saved: $6.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 17 Seconds: 28

Its been 25 hours since my last one....

Thank you everyone for all your encouraging words and support. It AMAZES me to look at my quit meter and see that so far, in ONE day, I have not smoked 48 cigs. I can hardly believe that I smoked that much! I am not having withdrawls as much as I am wondering around on my breaks and at home wondering what is missing?? Make sense? WOW. 48. I can't get over that! Jean....You should be so proud of yourself right now!!! You are such an inspiration to me. Stress is an ugly monster, but smoking is uglier. Hang tough...I will be cheering you on... A Newbie....

Hello....I am new to the site. A co-worker/friend of mine told me about the site. She had seen me struggle a little over a year ago to quit smoking (which lasted 30 days, and 30 lbs later I started again). She told me about the Chantix, which she took to quit, and I called the doc. She also gets TONS of support in here, which I am hoping that I will get also. I am now on Day 2 of the Chantix. We will see how it goes. I have smoked for 23+ years. I did minus out the 3 years that I had quit and was successful. Severe stress sent me back to the comfort of smoking. Non-smokers don't understand that, but I know you all will! I NEVER want to go back to smoking when I am done... I hate it so much. A Newbie....

Thank you everyone for the support. I am sure it is gonna help with this journey of no smoking. When I filled out the survey thing, it said that 1% of women smoke or have smoked more than me! What an eye opener. That is at what I currently smoke, not when I was @ 4 pks per day. WOW... Anyway.... On day 2 of Chantix. I have only smoked 9 sticks today..in over 12 hours...Double WOW... Again, thanks everyone for the support... :) ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/19/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0
