Frogger,
When i quit it was sudden, i woke up that morning, had 2 cigarettes and that was it. I quit - i still had a full pack left. When i think about it i guess i had already subconciously started to ween myself off gradually.
How many do you smoke a day? I used to smoke anywhere between 15 - 25 a day, depended on what was going on. I smoked on and off for 14 years. The key to my quit was that i wanted it more than i wanted to smoke and i beleived that i was stronger than the addiction.

Thats what i started doing, started cutting out the so called important smoke breaks. I delayed as much as i could.
The first two days i ate lots and lots of fruit and drank about 4 gallons of water lol. It is hard but you CAN do it.
I used to be an athlete so when i see what i have done to my body i cringe. Im now back into doing what i love, running & walking, pilates & yoga. I chose smoking over my health, now i choose health over my smoking and i feel so fantastic frogger.
Add me to your buddy list if you like.
You can do it Frogger :)

Two of my sisters have this same problem. One of my sisters had a little harder time in loosing the weight, but the other did what you are doing and it dropped off quite easily. I think it varies from one person to the other. The one that had the weight drop off was the one that smoked she also put on a lot of weight after her quit. If you like i can ask exactly what it was that she did and how long it took if you like.
Dutch it may be a little harder for some but it is acheiveable. :)
I do 40 mins of pilates & take a 1/2 walk every day (mostly uphill). Ive been doing this for just over a week. I feel fantastic, my fitness is getting so much better by the day.

I spent the afternoon with some friends of whom are all smokers. I avoided the smoke as much as i could and the smoke i couldnt just made me feel sick.
I drove one of my friends to the store (no smoking in my car!) and boy did she smell real bad, its so unatractive. Such a beautiful young lady smelling so bad. I said to my friend, you can do this to if you just let me help you. She looked at me in horror.
I just got home and took a long hot bubble bath. Boy do i feel fantastic :) and not one inkling of wanting to smoke.
