All of us have to agree.....there is never a " good " day to quit smoking. I read a post here where someone said that the most important thing to do when U quit is to have a plan. This is very important, at least it has helped me. I have made charts, posters and check lists.........LOL.........I am a Teacher and have been a Serial Dieter so this type of behavior modification is not new to me! LOL Not only have I not smoked a single cig.....I have lost 4 pounds this past month. Running! LOL That is what I have been doing.........instead of saying I gotta have a cig..........my new mantra is "I gotta Run!" It is working so far.........one day at a time. Lots of Luck, rawker and all. OUT WITH THE CIGS---IN WITH THE RUNNING SHOES! Smell that nice clean air!

Hello Butterfly.........My thoughts on this are #1, after 3 months most of us have few if any outwardly signs of having been a smoker. By this I mean that we have clear complextions, we do not smell of smoke, we do not cough and we no longer anxious or fussy when confined for more than 1/2 like in the mall or movie theater etc. Most if not all of the uncomfortable physical signs are gone...........the cravings, shortness of breath, the cough, and the nervousness we feel when we wake up and remember that we only have 2 cigs left and there is a blizzard outside. We as humans tend to remember only the "good" things. #2...........If U think back to your smoking days ( remembering " the good" times" ) , having a cig was almost a reward we gave ourselves. I , and maybe some of U, remember having a cig with friends over coffee, breaktime at work, a relaxed time with friends. All of these times were associated with smoking. Well, what U have to do is remember that we were in Fools' Paradise back then...........that time is over. Try always to associate cigs with bad habits, bad health and an enemy just waiting to strike and take control of your life once again! After 36 years smoking, I am 5 weeks quit! At least U seem to be meeting this challenge armed.........just hope that when I reach 3 months, I remember my own words!!! LOL God Bless
Glad to hear that your inner strength and resolve helped to get U through this, Jack. I am sure that these cravings are bound to hit us from time to time for, Maybe, always. Like Lady, I went for my ciggies the other day, automatically, when I went to get lunch started.......just walked into the kitchen and opened the drawer and was digging under the aprons and potholders where I used to hide them! LOL Sorry, Pat, U quit, remember!! I have had to chew gum only once in these last 2 months but, it is a good thing to have around if and when the cravings seem TOO much. AND..........coming online and reading and posting is probably the single most powerful drug I have used over these 2 months to help me stay quit! Thanks to everyone here involved friends and professionals alike for your words of encouragement and threats of bodily harm!!! U GOTTA LAUGH!!! 114 days.............hang tough, Jack! Cheers, Pat
