Poetry Corner

Hi Poetry Corner Folks!  Tiana's right - heart wrenching words; but oh so true - even as far back as 1604!

Hello Carlos & Kiwi (if you happen by here) - I'd like to join Pen in offering words of condolence to you and all the families affected by the earthquake in New Zealand.  Am glad to hear that you're keeping the faith. Thinking of you. Eya

State of Mind
If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't
If you'd like to win but think you can't,
It is almost certain, you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a person's will -
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself
Before you can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster woman or man
But soon or late the one who wins
Is the one who believes that he or she can

How?s she goin? b?ys?

Hi new Quitter buds : ) Ready!  You sound like you're doin' great!  When I fell off my 3 year Quit, I did it in a moment of stressed out weakness & also I was fed up with myself (pun intended). I kept piling the lbs on because I kept substituting snacks for cravings - pretty soon I was wearing my hubby's jeans.  I couldn't fit in my own clothes and didn't want to buy 'fat' clothes. One of our guy friends at the time started calling me 'She who wears His pants' as a joke. The nickname stuck because I let it bug me.  I kept wearing jack shirts and hubby's jeans for a long time.  Then I caved and started smoking again-sure enough in 2 months I was back to my usual 1/2 pk a day - But I felt like a Winner  cuz it only took 2 months of cigar smoking to lose all 30 lbs of weight gained.
3 years of closet smoking later - with subsequent guilt wracked conscience, lung damage, teeth stains, support from family and friends greatly diminished and confidence in myself eroded - I finally came here to try this Quit again.  So now, after 1 month Quit,  I 'post' here when I find myself  in between productive things to do - also go to gym; walk dog and be grateful for my life. Losing those few lbs at the time was NO WAY worth going through this Quit all over again 3 yrs later! But am sure grateful for the kind words of support found here!  Hope you do great with your Quit! Welcome to the 2011 Newer (here) NOPERS!

cold turkey!

Hi guys!  Hardly cried today too. I had one good breakdown when watching the international news this morning - sigh! But realized my tears didn't help anyone in the world at all, so am pulling it together now!
ShyOne: Thanx for the external HD backup wishes - very thoughtful of you LOL! But maybe a good thing I was 'out of it' last month. Was having some murderous/ flaggelistic thoughts anyway! So glad you're pulling through so far; your hair appt sounded heavenly - and you even enjoyed it!  No cravings for that long; that's Awesome! So proud of you. You're posts are funny BTW (LOL)!
JoDee: YAY! For getting through that party smoke free!  You did it!  I was rooting for you all weekend. If you read back, you saw Shevie's post reassuring us newbie NOPERS that we are nic free - and this stuff we are still experiencing is 'normal' - and will PASS soon! Hang on to those words!  So glad you got your avatar updated. You are one gorgeous Grandma and your grandson is adorable; he's so lucky to have such a young, pretty smoke free Grandma!
Have a great NOPE Day all!  Eya

Why I am glad I didn?t smoke today!

Hey JoDee :) Thanks for the post.  Great idea.
I'm glad I didn't smoke today because I nearly caved yesterday since my 'quit buddy' bailed. You say that smokin' lunch guy today stunk!  Well yesterday my (former) quit buddy's smoke smelled terrific! I wanted to sit in her car to get a bit more 2nd hand smoke!  OMG  True Confessions here!  But I did not cave to the crave! Gulped 3 deep breaths of clean fresh air instead!  If I caved I wouldn't be able to celebrate my one month Quit today! Granted, I did pick the shortest month of the yr, but what the hay! I did it! NOPE is the only way : )

Hi Poetry Corner Folks
Here's goes with today's poetic license of  a standard ol' cliche:
'Be it ever so humble, there's no drug like oxygen'
