I am not new to smoking, but I am new to not smoking.
I recently quit smoking three days ago after I came down sick with a really bad sinus infection, which left me not wanting a smoke for at least 12 hours. Therefore, I said why not just QUIT. So here I am.... :")
I am doing really well thus far and have a lot of courage as I have quit in the past Cold Turkey for 6 months. Although, a friend offered me a cig. and stupid me, took it and never looked back..
NOT THIS TIME WILLIS!!! I AM TOUGHER AND WISER THEN BEFORE..
I am here hoping to help others as they hopefully can help me...
I totally loved Jan58's video as it is so true, and not too mention kinda scary.
Today was difficult as expected but I am getting ready for bedtime soon. Therefore, I am moving onto the next day and the next challenge that lies ahead. The toughest will be Tuesday of next week as I go back to work (manufacturing) and this will prove to be a roller coaster of events, triggers and not too mention people smoking everywhere.
Don't get scared though as I am prepared and have a game plan.
1st - I am going to steer clear of smokers and all areas where smokers could be
2nd - Do not hang with the smoking crowds
3rd - Bring some little (fireball) cinnamon candy to help ease the cravings
4th - OH HELL! I DON'T HAVE A FORTH....PANIC STARTS TO SET IN ..
Just kidding ya, but maybe someone could give me a 4th just in case of emergency...
Thanks again everyone and I will be back day after day to let you all know my progress...

Keep up the good work as we both are working towards a goal of feeling better and smelling better. If needed we can pull each other across the finish line, but I am not leaving any soldiers behind..
As one it is tough, but unity makes us who we are!!!

I wanted to tell everyone how my 1st day back at the cancer shack went yesterday. It started with walking into the Mill and sucking in all the wonderful chemicals from the past; however, this time it was different as I even stopped and talked to a few people I use to smoke with. Actually, I was proud of myself as I could go outside with the smokers (a distance away) and still talk to my friends, but without smoking.
I must admit there was a few times when my brain said; "OH HELL" SMOKE THAT PUPPY! -but- I did not....
Chewing gum really helped as it satisfied my oral fixation. Whoa! I have to watch how i use that word (oral) and (fixation) in the same sentence.
Nevertheless, I am still here (SMOKE FREE) and FEELING GREAT!

You are absolutely right about hitting the reset switch and you would have to endure this all over again one day if you retreat. Would you like to know of one self-talk treatment I tell myself all the time during the cravings and the hours I want a smoke?
I ask myself:
Question - Did you smoke as a child?
Answer - No, and I was happy and healthy!
I am not sure if this could work for you or others, but it is one way to trick your mind back into thinking you can be a non-smoker once again. As you was born without a cigarette so you do not need it to live. In addition, I must say these little devils have there claws in pretty good. I think of myself as a intelligent individual and a fairly strong minded person, but "WHOA," these smokes have brain washed me into thinking they are actually good for me.... ........
Stay Strong
We are here day and night!!
