We're rootin' for you, Irish!! Just remember, we've done this, and so can you. It's entirely possible. It just takes a little determination, and it sounds like you've got that. Come here, post often, read, drink lots of water, suck on hard candies, go for walks... and consider all the other advise you'll get here. Do whatever you have to do to get though this day without a cig, and tomorrow... start all over again. You take care of the minutes, hours and days... and the months and years willl take care of themselves. We're here for you, Irish! Hi Irish, The increase in appetite is quite common as nicotine is a known appetite suppressant. You should know that due to your quit, your metabolism will temporarily slow down so do make healthy choices if you are concerned about weight gain. The cough can last for up to a few weeks after quitting in general, however should it be accompanied by any other symptoms or if it worsens, consult your MD. Keep persevering and congrats on day 2! Hi All, Well as noticed, yesterday went pretty well, surprisingly to me. Today..hmmmmmmmm, some more urges, but I really kind of expected today to be worse than yesterday....as I expect tomarrow to be worse than today with the urges...Not sure but I pray day 4 one will start getting better and easier..(well compared to how it is today) I like the idea Mercy of the scented baths and doing a good brushing. I also like the morning idea of a devotional...what a positive way to start the day.:) I do notice I seem to have eaten a little more today than normal. Hey, how long does this cough last usually????? That's the part that if really driving me crazy. irish My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20 Amount Saved: $4.35 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 39 Seconds: 12

Great job. Don't smoke no matter what. It does get tough....but it doesn't have to be as bad if you are the one in control...AND NOT IT!! Make sure you have things in place NOW>..NOT WHEN the craves are bad. What are you going to do when you have a bad crave? Just curious. I know I had things pre-planned out. After work was hard....so I walked the dog. Mornings were hard so I read a bible devotional with my coffee instead of smoke. Evenings were hard before bed....so I whitend my teeth and took nice scented baths. All the rest of the times I came here. Keep doing what your doing. and give yourself a nice reward for hanging in there. oh good, good, good for you irish! Please, pamper yourself. Sleep, read, post, drink lots of water, and breathe..deeply and often. Once you get past the first few days or weeks you will feel so much better. This is a big undertaking, so you need to be nice to yourself. Give yourself little rewards throughout the day (my faves were spoonfuls of nonfat yougurt, cottage cheese, and peanut butter). And, please, do not smoke until you come here and ask for help. Hopefully someone will see you quickly and talk you through it. We have all been there, and want to help -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 129 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,160 Amount Saved: $877.20 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 23 Mins: 38 Seconds: 28
