Congratulations Matt that is a huge step, the fact that you managed to stay out so long without even the hint of an attack is a credit to all the hard work you have put into this program. I'm sure your children were very happy to have daddy take them to & from school & Im positive your wife is brimming with pride in how far you have come.
Just think with your new found strength & attitude what you are capable of.
In thinking more on this...the real success is not that I was afraid or panicked....the real success is that I pushed my boundaries and was willing to panic if it came up....instead of What If it changed to So What...Its the hardest thing I have ever done.
Ok... today I went out to get my daughter from school at 1:15. I had a headache from earlier today and took 1 Excedrin at around 7am. That's not a not deal but I don't drink ANY caffeine so I was feeling a little jiggy.
Anyways I went out to get here with my two younger kids.....then I had to get a pinyata(spelling?) for a party this weekend so I took all of us to the store.
Then I took the kids to hamburgers which was cool
All in all I was out of the house for about 1 hour and 45 minutes just with me and the kids.
Why is that a big deal? My wife is my support person. She just got a job this past week (part time) so she is gone in the afternoons, which means I get my daughter from school now and do errands etc by myself. I was housebound (extreme agoraphobic) about a year and a half ago and am still recovering. This is the longest I have been out by myself without my wife just doing whatever in a year and a half.
The thing with CBT/exposure therapy is that its working even when it feels like it doesnt. It's not giant leaps but little quiet steps each day that knock down the wall. This has been my experience.
Today is a good day. Alot better than I thought as the caffeine made me jittery this am.
