Effect of Classical Music

13 years ago 0 57 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
i was in a choir for many years also, I miss it! I have moved recently ( about 1 1/2 yrs. ago) and with anxiety am afraid of the commitment and of not going when not feeling well.  Singing has been such a great thing for me since high school.

I miss being in a choir, but the commitment makes it difficult to be part of one

It is funny because I lost the contact with music some years ago, but now I am founding its therapeutic effects and I listen to music according to my mood or situation:

classical - when I feel more anxious or agitated
easy jazz - after lunch and to help me with my digestion
80's - to lift my spirit
zen music (nature sounds and soft music) -while practicing yoga
contemporary music - when I want to discover new sounds

You can not smile and think negative either. Smile and listen to the music, visualize the orchestra. It works.

May I suggest some Andrea Bocelli?

I find him so soothing and relaxing!

Members,

Our focus in recent weeks has been on stress management. The positive effects of classical music have been widely studied. Although the consensus that classical music increases intellectual ability in children has not yet been confirmed, it has been shown that music does improve:

°          Stress levels & burnout rates in the workplace

°          Overall mood

°          Behavioral symptoms in older adults with Alzheimer, brain injuries or other cognitive deficits

°          Spending: Stores who play classical music have been shown to have higher sales than those who do not.

°          Crime: In a landmark study, the London Transit System saw a decrease in robberies, assault on workers & vandalism.

°          Retention in college students studying

°          Overall stress levels & decreased anger in individuals with road rage when driving

°          Pain in labouring mothers

°          Singing has also been shown to be beneficial in breathing, mood, self-esteem, stress, anxiety & overall wellness.

What has your experience been with this stress relieving strategy?
