And for some reason in today's computer age people with PD are thought to be too stupid to use one which is not true. So we could not possibly be a useful employee. Did you know too that as soon as you need to use a wheel chair you turn deaf. I found that one so funny when I was in hospital. It is true though that people with mental illnesses do miss work but no more than persons taking leave for pregnancy. That one is not funny and I don't know what the answer is because I kept my anxiety well hidden and fell back on my Arthritis which was more acceptable. Still my job status was always up in the air toward the end but would have been worse if they knew I had anxiety issues. Fortunately I am retired now and they can all........ you know what.

Of all persons with disabilities, those with a serious mental illness face the highest degree of stigmatization in the workplace, and the greatest barriers to employment. Many and varied employment obstacles face adults with psychiatric disabilities, such as gaps in work history, limited employment experience, lack of confidence, fear and anxiety, workplace discrimination and inflexibility, social stigma and the rigidity of existing income support/benefit programs.
