FEAR List Exposed

Hi.. Well this topic caught my eye as my anxiety has resurfaced after many years panic free. It is the irrational fears that frustrate me the most as my logic tells me one thing yet my mind runs with whatever the fear of the moment is. I am on medication and have been for years - a VERY low dose of paxil as I had gradually begun weaning myself.. Now I'm trying to find a new balance (with my Doc's help) but until then ;) Right now my biggest fears are: 1. Death 2. something happening to me when I'm alone with my kids 3. going crazy - hearing voices, having a mental break.. Just losing control 4. allergic reactions to medications etc. 5. forgetting how to swallow 6. forgetting where I am I do have to say I was somewhat comforted that most of us fear the same things..and yet we are all here still dealing with them and going on day by day. Well I'm going to give the program a try and see if that helps... Not all my days have anxiety or the fears but the days that do.. are tough and FRUSTRATING. Makes me feel like a failure... but I beat this before and I can again. Thanks for listening.

This is a good one...helps me laugh at myself... Fear of having to poop so bad and no toilet around BUT then there's the fear of using a public one...so I hang on until I practically sweat to get home if I can. Don't always make it and have to go to a public and believe me...I don't think anyone can sh** as fast as I can, wash hands and get out of there! World record! (Feel soooo much better after by the way...having "lived through" it.) Fear of panicking Fear of fainting Fear of vomiting Fear of someone "noticing" how nervous and on the verge of panic I am. It is just too hard to seem "cool" when like that. Fear of losing those I love HATE going to the dentist or ANY appointment for that matter. I too, do the "Honey, Just so ya know, I just took another antibiotic, and half hour ago those two tylenol..." Fear of my own anger Fear of being out with NO FOOD in my purse for those blood sugar drops. All I have to do is realize I forgot? (which is NEVER now! Protein bars ALWAYS in purse.) Is enough to have me close to panic. I could go on I am sure, but will end with......(drum roll...........) FEAR OF FEAR. :-0

- Fear of being locked in (claustrophobic feeling), especially in planes, ships (I can't get out of them when I want)( a stucked (?) elevator) - Fear of being far away from home (something bad happens to me, there is no help and nobody understands me) - Fear of not managing to fight a panic attack (panic overtakes and rules me, I can't breath, my hands and body are tingling, trembling and it is getting worse and worse) - Fear of dying in aviocatastrophe or ship wreck (??) - Fear that something bad can happen to my close ones - Fear that I may stay in this fear feeling forever

David are you able to say any more on how you conquered the fear of dying? I've just taken half a sleeping pill and am feeling a little nervous. I've written out a list telling me why i should just let go of fear, because other people are calm and having a better quality of life, just getting on with living......and there's me, can't sleep because of other people in the house being awake (they sleep fine no matter what noise is going on), nervous in the night, fears fo waking up feeling ill, dislike of the thought that i've ttakne a sleeping pill that will 'knock me out'....lack of control.... I'd really love to knw how others get rid of fears like this. Meanwhile i had better get to bed as this pill might kick in while i'm at the computer! lol!

Great idea Tracie, I was thinking the same thing about how our fears are alot alike. Well here are mine: 1)fear of heart attack, stroke ,cancer 2)fear of exercising because I hate feeling my heart beat 3)fear of thinking I will forget how to breathe or swallow 4)fear of going to far from home ( I don't feel safe out in the world) 5)fear of forgetting my meds or cell phone at home in case I need help

I used to have a fear of dying and having some illness but during my last anxiety episode which was 3 years ago which I kinda forgot about because I fought it alone I had a fear of dyring alway checking and knowing where the closest hospital was etc..But I have conquered that. My top 5 fears right now 1. Hurting myself or someone else 2. Losing control and going crazy 3. Fear of going back to work 4. Fear I won't be normal again 5. Being alone -> Triggered my second episode from being away in different city and slow got more and more stressed

Boy do we all have alot of fears in commom LOL!! I guess I am going to add some with my list...... *fear of dying or knowing I am about to die, goes along with fear of leaving my son and not getting to see him grow up. *fear of going crazy - having schizophrenia has been a recent one. *fear of flying *fear of fainting *fear of illnesses and diseases - this one started after I was diagnosed with hypertension after having my son. Now I worry about having a heart attack, stroke, pulmonary embolism, asthma, heart disease, deadly arrythmia, and the list goes on........... *fear of an allergic reaction - the reason I haven't started the lexapro that I was supposed to take. *fear of traveling away from home - we are supposed to go on vacation soon and I am afraid something bad will happen while away from my "safe place". *social phobia = I often panic really bad when I am at school or while shopping. This is a huge one for me because I am in college and I have to struggle 5 days a week with panicking in class. It is horrible! *fear of something happening to my son or loved ones. The list could go on forever but I will stop here. I waste soooo much time worrying that I am not living life! I am so sick of it that I could just scream!!! I have to beat this and I have to get over this because I am only 23 years old and I have many years ahead of me( i hope ;-) and I do NOT want to spend them like this. I wish there was a cure. ~Isabella~
