Hi Mochi,
Welcome to the stop smoking center. A BIG congratulations on being a quitter for over a week!  You made it through hell week, be sure and give yourself a reward for your effort, you deserve it. There are many reasons for quitting smoking, and to be honest, it does not really matter what the reason is, so long as you quit. Money is a big motivator along with health issues and loved ones. Since you don't have a family, children, or significant other, you're doing this for YOU, and at this point in life, YOU are the most important reason for quitting. Good for you!!!
Be sure and keep an eye on your quit meter. Those dollars are going to add up real quick at $42 a pack. Wow they sure are expensive down under.
It sounds like you've got a good attitude to help you on your quit journey. Keep it with you at all times. I wish you the best.
Stay strong and watch out for those triggers.

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Joined this community as the cravings have started to hit and I'm hoping this will be some motivation for me to stay off the durries! My official quit date is the 03/05/18!

I'm Mochi, I started smoking when I was around 17/18 and was living in the United States (I recall a pack being $3-4) and later moved back home to Australia (bit of a slap in the face going to $42 a pack). At the time, starting was method for me to replace more severe forms of self-harm. Anxiety and stress is a big trigger for my smoking, I can go a weekend without touching a cigarette but I'll have 10 smokes on my lunch break alone at work if I'm having a bad day. After being severely sick and ending up the the emergency room, I haven't smoked for 7 days out of necessity, I kind of figured after going a whole week I might as well nip it in the bud - I got this far, right?

I feel pretty guilty because I feel like my motivation to quit is very shallow. I don't have children, family or a partner to motivate me to quit, I'm pretty alone on that front. I have this weird fear about having that 'scary smokers voice' and aging quicker/getting wrinkles (i'm obsessed with having perfect skin). But my main motivation is basically to save money - I funnel hundreds of dollars each week into my habit and its started to get a bit ridiculous.

Nice to meet everyone, and I'm hoping to stick with quitting for good!
