Happy to hear you are quit it... Because people not often getting success with this but the thing "Motivation" is key to get success...i completely agree with you that we need a thing/task that is going to replace the smoking and keep us busy on that instead of smoke..Thanks for sharing
I quit smoking on October 4th and did it cold turkey. I smoked for 23 years and I have been meditating and I had some health problems that made me say enough is enough. This is how I was able to do it. I'm not bragging but if I can help someone else than great.
I decided to not allow myself to smoke until 3pm everyday. I could smoke as much as I wanted after 3pm but I could not smoke UNTIL then. I found this worked well for me because I was able to back it up mentally...for example: "well, if I was working a job where I couldn't smoke than it would be this way anyway...so, I can handle this" Also knowing that I could smoke later in the day gave me something to look forward to, and helped me to fight through the cravings when they hit: example " I only have to make it another hour" Or "It's only 12pm but that means lunch time and time to eat" The worst cravings to battle for me were after eating. However that said, they do get easier to get through once you have motivated yourself past that first week of quitting. They don't call that first week hell week for nothing, but what is ONE week of torture compared to how many times you hate yourself for smoking or worry about getting sick? It's a challenge, but one that if you stick with has amazing rewards and benefits. I bought a lot of peppermints when I quit, it was so ridiculous that I realized one day that I had bought about 4 packages and it still cost me only a third of what I would have paid for a pack of smokes. WELL SPENT MONEY. It feels good to feel good about spending that money on things that bring me happiness and comfort because I know I deserve them, I'm doing a great job and that's what I want other people to feel too. I have bought so many books and I'm learning another language. UM yeah quitting smoking can actually help motivate you to learn other languages faster because it is a great way to occupy your mind....I repeat Chinese words whilst going about my normal routines now....another way I am improving myself! Get motivated!!!!!
