panic mode

Thanks So Tired and shell, Could'nt stop it though.I ended up going into a pretty good panic attack around noon here on the west coast, Just now getting my head back a little and able to focus. I know that I will be able to get on meds if I want. Or at least I think they will recommend it , my counsler already is recommending them. For the most part though I am in good shape and seem ok till the anxiety and panic takes hold(which of course is more often then i want to live with.) I hate to think of doing drugs. It has to do a lot with my past abuse of drugs(course I fall in the 30% group there to). Guess i can try them and see, if they work for me I can always stop taking them. Getting ahead of myself by a few days. Anyways , thanks for the response. Jimbo

Jimbo, I think the meds work. I wish that I took them sooner. The medicine allows you to calm down and rest. You mentioned that you were not getting any sleep. That happpened to me and it only made things worse. You need to rest. I think that is so important especially in a time like this. Go to your doctor and see what he/she recommends. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi there, The medication helps...but it takes time...I started off on Zoloft and then got off that and started on Celexa and then Effexor...now I am Zoloft and Klonopin...and it is helping...the medication is not a 'miracle' cure or anything but it helps to take away some of the symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks. Sometimes, you will have good days and sometimes not so good days, but hang in there and also try the 12-step panic program offered by this site. I hope this helps:-) Take care, B

Here I am again sitting around with the world spinning. I thought I could control these attacks now that I knew more about them. Boy was I wrong yet again.I hate this feeling. I try to think of anything but this feeling of not being in control but I ran into a wall this morning. Does medication help with this feeling? Would the world stop spinning. I see my Dr monday. Thankgoodness I got my appointment moved up. Hope I don't suffer anxiety till then. Did'nt sleep much at all again last night with all this anxiety. Does the meds help with that? Just was wondering :confuse:
