Working on it:

Well said...You are taking this thing on in a very thoughtful way...And I believe that to do so is necessary and increases the chances of success many fold...I hid behind my thin blue veil for a long, long time...In fact until I realized what I was doing, I didn't think I had a problem at all...But I did...Once we get a hold of the reasons we smoke we begin to find that key that helps us unlock our personal door to cessation...

Mister Ed:

There you are...I have not had the pleasure for many a day...You know you gave me a clue of how to quit as well.  I remember how dedicated you where to keeping the stats of the site.  And it was by observing that activity that I began to realize why you put so much effort into the process. That little insight helped me form my own personal quit plan.

Now I may be wrong here and if I am I apologize in advance. I began to see that you where not only providing a useful service for others, but in the doing of it you where also engaging in a self styled therapeutic process.  In short you found a way to help others that also helped yourself stay on the quit path.  I always thought that to be a very clever and wonderful example of creative healing.  It was through your way of doing things that I began to get the idea for my own way of finding the key to my prison...And I thank you for that...

Eyja:

Thank you for your kindness...You have done well indeed.  I know that your 1.5 years did not come easily and you no doubt had weeks, days, hours and seconds in which your resolve was terribly tested.  But those times will always prove valuable to you because at the end of day you rejected the temptation to return to that sad old road. You should be very proud of this accomplishment.

Once upon a time, I thought it was impossible for me to quit.  I doubt that I am alone in that conviction.  But once we begin to shine a light on that false assumption and slowly come to the realization that we are both the prisoner and the jailer in this scenario we begin to make things better...We do truly become the author of our own liberation.

Keep moving forward, and always have the courage to seek the key to your personal prison.

Hello Nonic,

I have to agree with Eyja that in my hour of need I always looked out for a post from you.

All the very best

Dear nonic;
I must add my 'A'ppreciation for your thoughtful, well written, insightful and beautifully written prose in this post as well as in all the posts you have contributed to at SSC.  You were one of the first people kind enough to respond to my cries for support when I first joined SSC 1 1/2  years ago and you can not know how I cherished your kind and thoughtful words.  You are an incredibly gifted author and seem to have some kind of sixth sense to know just what to say to those you have reached out to - if you consider this A A A post as your 'little musing', then I guess I can just say 'Wow'! Like Jim, I have missed your frequent writings. Ashley has quoted a significant point from this thread on FB as she noted, (I 'liked' it too BTW), Workin' On It valued your perspective here and freethree sums it up pretty well with 'O Wise One' . . . It is so nice to see you post again after some time away.  Thank you.

Thank you for your kind words.  I must admit, however, that I am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to social media.  But if you liked what I wrote and felt it to be worthy of reproducing then I too like it.  And all the more if it helps folks put down the squares...

Hi Nonic,

I added a beautiful quote from you, from this thread to our Facebook group. "Like" it if you haven't already. The "Like" button is at the top right corner of the page. It's a great way to spread the word about this program.
