Hello Hyperchonvince, I wanted to tell you that you are certainly not the worst we all experience things perhaps much much worse than you think I HAD THE MUCOUS THING as well I thought it was asthma or even a more serious lung problem but the doctor could not figure out anything wrong with all the tests even still have the same thing. she explains that it is not an organic disease but a functional problem related to anxiety. I do worry all the time about my health. if you read the discussion on SYMPTOMS you will found what I have written about my HEALTH OBSSESSIVE THOUGHTS.

I am gonna try hypnotherapy, not just the tapes - cos they don't work... Gonna have real hypnotherapy with a fully licensed hypnotherapist! I will let you all know how it goes.

Hi I have symptoms like you do also. I check doors repeatedly before going to bed at night.I check the stove many times and check the heaters to make sure there is nothing byn them that can catch on fire at night.I will even lock the door at night and go lay in bed and 20 minutes later I will swear I didnt lock it and go check it again.I always worry I have health problems to such as cancer all the time.I do self breast exams and convince myself there is a lump and I dont like going to the doctors in fear there might be something wrong with me.Your definately not alone in this and If you find something that helps you please let me know I have tried everything!!!!

You are definately right about me being compassionate, people say I care too much for a guy... I cry when me and my girl have an argument, lol... but it makes me feel so pathetic and weak. I want to be a tough guy, and want to be manly. I care about everything so much - don't want anyone to be hurt e.t.c.

I think for that problem - you need to know that you are not pathetic - you need to challenge your negative thoughts. You need more confidence - you need to tell yourself that you are beautiful the way you are and think of all the great qualities that you possess. If you feel anxiety and feel like you are going to shake and worried that they will laugh - well, too bad for them! It may sound strange but if you just let yourself shake and not fight the panic - you will feel better. Recognize that it will pass and that these feelings are temporary! If you read another book by Claire Weekes - hope and help for your nerves. She can teach you how to float past your anxiety. I know it is difficult and it will take time. You may feel stupid and embarrassed that this is happening. Everyone wants to be accepted by others - no one wants to be laughed at - I really believe that if you try and change the way that you think about yourself that will help. Don't think that anyone is better than you. If they laugh - well too bad - that is there problem. Perhaps they are not as compassionate as you are. You may need help from a friend to help you through this - someone you can talk to who can understand your anxiety and the physical symptoms that go along with it.

And, no - you are not the worst! I always think that my anxiety will cause me to have mental problems - if I don't have them now! But anxiety does not cause you to go crazy or mental. It is something we all have to deal with and try to resolve but it will not make you go crazy. I know you may feel that way - I feel crazy all the time because I feel I can't control my thoughts. But it will not damage your mind. You can heal, your nervous sytem will heal and you can retrain you mind to think in a positive way. It just takes a lot of acceptance, practice and most importantly, time.

Thank you so much for taking the time guys, very nice of you also wanda :) I have something else that bothers me, when I am around people that I dont know, I always fear they are staring at me and laughing at me, I am 5ft3 with a TINY frame at 20 years old, I just feel so pathetic and inferior, I shake out of control - And the more I try to stop myself, the more I do it. And then people notice and do actually laugh! I would have no problems and wouldn't need to fear if I didn't shake - and yet I shake because I am scared of shaking, heh.

You are not the only one. I worry about my health all the time. And yes, anxiety can cause the symptoms you are describing - at least it does in me. I am always worried that I have cancer in my bowels (and everywhere else) because I get the same problems you have described. Last night I was awake for most of the night thinking I had a cancerous growth in my stomach! I was also worried I had blood clots in my legs. It is really hard when I feel pain or discomfort or notice anything weird happening with my bowels or whatever, to not think that something is going terribly wrong with my body. It is a constant battle with your mind - to try and stop your mind from thinking negative thoughts. It becomes so automatic - you really have to say stop! over and over in your head to stop yourself from thinking and that still doesn't help because, like I said, the bad thoughts become automatic and so overwhelming. I went to the library and found a book called "Stop worrying about your health!" by George Zgourides. Is specifically deals with health anxiety. I read it and it has helped but it is very easy to revert to my old ways of thinking. You are probably a very sensitive person who feels things more and tends to worry about your body sensations. It really takes practice to try and change the way that you think because it has become so automatic. I am still working on it and have failed many times. But the more you do work on changing your negative thoughts - your nervous system will eventually re-learn the positive. I am not there yet myself - but it is nice to think that it will happen. Don't give up - I know it seems like there is no hope but you will have better days!
