Good Morning Ye-all I have to thank you u-all for the support on this site it is incredible WOW I could not believe that 14 People hade replied. I had a dry mouth this morning but I got up and went to brush my teeth and I had a bowl of cereal I did not go for the coffee because coffee goes with a cig. I try to avoid the things that I associate with a cig. Come here at least once a day, to read and post your progress. That's what helped me in the beginning. There are great people here who have been thru what you are about to go thru. They can help you out, they understand. Get the rest you body and mind need. Do not focus on "how hard it is to quit" (the negatives) focus on "how my house/car/me doesn't smell anymore" (the positives). These are all tips i was given and helped me along the way. Fill out the milestones in tools and resources, this will help with your quit and know what to expect along the way. Wishing you the best in your quit journey. Welcome aboard, Fred!!!! I have found that the thought of quitting is actually worse than the quit itself. Take this journey one day at a time, and we're all here to help. Are you using any NRT's or is it cold turkey? I'll be 50 in July and decided that I DON'T want to be a smoker any more. You've made one of the best decisions you'll ever make. Congratulations. Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/27/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 64 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,600 Amount Saved: $544.00 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 8 Mins: 0 Seconds: 44

Welcome to the SSC, Fred, and congratulations on having the smarts to quit smoking at age 50!! There is a member here, Bear 1939, and he's a retired truck driver and I'll bet you he'll tell you that he's sorry that he didn't give up the smokes when he was your age! This is a great opportunity - buy some of those small washed carrots to munch on in the cab and get your Thermos filled with iced water for sipping-on when you get the cravings... are you going to use the patch or the new pill Champix, or the gum?? Be sure to spend as much time as possible sticking close to this site and asking for help when you need it... this addiction is no joke, as I'm sure you know , and we'll give you all the help to maintain your quit in just the same way that we got that support ourselves in here...
