Welcome to the SSC, Fred, and congratulations on having the smarts to quit smoking at age 50!! There is a member here, Bear 1939, and he's a retired truck driver and I'll bet you he'll tell you that he's sorry that he didn't give up the smokes when he was your age! This is a great opportunity - buy some of those small washed carrots to munch on in the cab and get your Thermos filled with iced water for sipping-on when you get the cravings... are you going to use the patch or the new pill Champix, or the gum??
Be sure to spend as much time as possible sticking close to this site and asking for help when you need it... this addiction is no joke, as I'm sure you know , and we'll give you all the help to maintain your quit in just the same way that we got that support ourselves in here...
