I want to stop smoking soon

16 years ago 0 1073 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Mike, Stick around here. You'll find that the 'bored' phase is part of the process for many. And quitting smoking is definately a process, not just a quick decision and you're done. Make the decision to see the process through to the end. Trust the decision you made. Do not allow yourself to change you mind while you are going through withdrawals (physical, emotional or psychological withdrawals). Most importantly....don't light the next one. ;) ~lbugg~ My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 1110 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 62,160 Amount Saved: $7,770.00 Life Gained: Days: 111 Hrs: 2 Mins: 8 Seconds: 23

Mikey, what the long time quitters here say is when you want to quit more than you want to smoke you will. I hope it is sooner rather than later! Mikey, there is a book by allen carr, it can help you to quit if you read it. That book and this site were the only aids I used. Hi Mikey, As Fighter just said, this site is one of the best tools to help you keep that quit. I get that bored feeling as well and then I remember this site, these people and my milage meter always inspires me to. Hope to see you on here soon :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 160 Amount Saved: 10.66 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 43 Seconds: 28

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi Mikey, just wanted to let you know that I tried the expensive lazer therapy too. It didn't work for me. About 3 days into into it I started smoking again. It was kind of like a false lead and made me feel like I would never want to live without squares. Because they advertise that you will feel NO symptoms (like the restlessness) I thought that their was somethning wrong with me for having those symptoms. What i realized after getting started in this site was what it really comes down to is this-you have to REALLY WANT TO QUIT! No therapies or non smoking aids will be enough to get you through the tough times that you will still have NO MATTER WHAT you use! But because I got involved with this site and because I really wanted to quit I chose a quit date and I now know that I will never smoke again. Yes, i still get cravings, but no I won't follow through with them this time because I realized that I really want to be smoke free. So that's it... Do you REALLY want to quit? Are you ready to DO instead of TRY? Your words express your thoughts so be true to yourself. The best time to quit is when you are ready! Best of luck to ya, and remember when you are ready we will all be here for you! Hi Mikey and welcome to the SSC! So, are you ready to quit? OR Do you still feel that you have a "fairly good desire" to be smoke free???? Where did you go wrong? You have to make a STRONG committment!!! Cigarettes and nicotine ARE NOT your old friend!!! You have to make it an all out war that you will not be willing to lose!!! So think about it, are you willing to banish that "best friend" from your life for ever before he kills you??? If not, you will not succeed, period!!! So here was my trick: 1. I made a committment to quit, saw my doctor and got a script for Chantix! 2. Found this site, went through the milestones, set my quit date. 3. I made a public pledge and posted it on this site!!! 4. I banished my "old friend" from my life forever because he killed my brother, father and grandmother. I had to banish the killer before he kills me!!! You cannot go into this with a "try" attitude, like BJ said!!! You have to tell yourself that you ARE going to quit!!! We'll be here to assist you every step of the way when you are ready!!! Hi Mikey and Welcome... one of the first things.. Is anticipating .. fearing the Quit... IS WAY worse, than doing it. #1. for me was Admitting I am an Addict.. a nicotine addict. #2. The only way to Beat the addiction is N O P E.. not one puff EVER.. one puff will lead me right back to a pack a day. I took Chantix. the new medication and It was a very good tool for me.. and withthout this site I would not be where I am.. Ice water, and more icewater.. I swear I felt like I drank enough to fill a small pond.. I could slosh when I walked.. it will help your body get rid of the toxins ... and ice chips frozen fruit bars.. really helped me. Also going into this Quit with I Quit... and Not I am "trying" to quit... using the rules here... If you are really thinking of lighting up... GET here and Post HELP ... wait for at least 3 to 5 replies... and the first 7 days ARE called HELL WEEK.. but it won't kill you... we are all proof of that. Setting your quit meter. watching your stats, joining the parades and marches with your fellow members.. and soon to be good friends here keeps you in the spirit.. and You not Only don't want to let Yourself down.. You dont weant to let your friends here down.. Welcome to your new cyber family that will help you.. as much as we can...
