HERE IS A GOOD EXCUSE

17 years ago 0 695 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Congrats on the weekend!!! I LOL, my husband still smokes & he is always delaying quitting.. The excuses that he makes are just the addiction talking...I just chew a lot of gum, read & post... anything to keep this quit!! PS In the beginning, I did not tell anyone about this quit, especially my parents or in-laws.... They mean well but, they just say stupid thing because they never smoked or had an addiction to deal with... Lot's on luck at the BEACH.... The food will be wonderful... Take a lot of long walks and just breathe!!!!!!! Anxioux, Aren't families the craziest things! And don't you just love the excuses people use to smoke? Thank you for asking about my dog (Yes, he is mine!). He's an English Springer Spaniel called 'Gus'. And Yes he is gorgeous. :) Lizzie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/23/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1747 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 26,205 Amount Saved: 6,551.25 Life Gained: Days: 179 Hrs: 17 Mins: 48 Seconds: 44

anxious You are doing so well under very difficult circumstances. I never had to deal with an extended famiily of smokers. Most of my quitting has been done in my own little "fortress of solidtude." But you are seeing in living color the results of denial and the strength that the addiction holds over otherwise intellegent and thoughtful people. Hang in there, listen to the folks here, but most of all hear the language of your own heart... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 404 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,120 Amount Saved: $4,242.00 Life Gained: Days: 75 Hrs: 8 Mins: 19 Seconds: 15

anxious, Believe it or not, you are doing an amazing job! You are seeing the nicodemon for what it is..nasty! Keep pushing forward and let no-one take you down. They couldn't catch you if they wanted too! Do this for you, someday they will realize what they are missing :) Josie, Health Educator

There's not a lot I can add to the great advice you've already received, anxioux1, but I can tell you that you fighting, and winning. Don't let someone else make you think it's OK to smoke. By the way, the laws in Florida are making it harder to want to smoke. Some of the beaches have outlawed smoking. Other beaches have designated smoking areas. Don't fret, you're doing a great job, and we're all with you. Anxious, Every time one of your in-laws makes such a comment serves as a reminder of how ridiculous is the addict's twisted way of thinking. It's a shame that they are deluded, but use such talk as a reinforcement to your Quit! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 719 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21,570 Amount Saved: 5,392.50 Life Gained: Days: 117 Hrs: 4 Mins: 19 Seconds: 25

You have the upper hand. You have them on the ropes. They fear you. You make them uneasy because you are doing what they cannot. Do what you have to do for you and your quit and don't worry about March 1 on February 2. Too many people worry about what "might be" and more often than not, "might be" never happens - what a waste of time and energy!! Keep On Keeping On! Penitent d1355 :)
