saire alcohol is difinitely, not good. panic disorder and drinks does not go well. I used to drink in the early stages of my PD, but then i thought may be alcohol is increasing the whole thing, and I stopped. after that I realized that alcohol was part of the problem.

yes rita I had this feeling 24/7. but, oh, amI so reliefed or what. I learnt how to face my fears and to deal with these symptoms, for example when I used to get an attack especially in public, i would speak to myself in my mind and literally these are the words " OK, OK , I'm just panicking it is no big deal, I'm not going crazy, there is nothing wrong with my heart, and the sense of unreality is just a trick my mind is playing on me just take it easy and all these symptoms will go away " then I close my eyes for one minute and I would find a place to sit and breathe calmly. and voila gone with the wind, hehe. ooh I feel great. god almighty, and Rita I hope you reach that stage that I reached, I very confident you will, just keep asuring yourself.

Hi Saire, Welcome to the site. You will find that this site is full of supportive members to share your feelings and experiences with. Please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physicians advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When youre finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. If you have any questions or concerns with our "TOOLS" you can contact our support department at support@paniccenter.net. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! I feel like crying reading all of these posts -- out of relief because I know it's not just me, but also out of anxiety and sadness because I know this isn't going to just go away. I, too, have both panic attacks and anxiety that seems to never end. I had a brief -- almost-- respite yesterday, but today my stomach is in knots and I can't do a lick of work (and am afraid I'm going to get in trouble/fired) because I can't focus for even 10 seconds at a time. I read somewhere in the forums that drinking alcohol can make your anxiety the next day bad/worse. Does anyone know anything about that? Is this definitely true or just a theory? I'm Saire, also new here... scared saire. :8o:

Hey Rita! Just wanted to say that I used to think I was seriously mentally ill, no laughing matter! But now I just know that I am not "nuts" and that this disorder is my problem. Over the past 12 years there have been times when my anxiety has lasted for long periods of time. But feeling anxious and stressed doesn't mean I have anxiety attacks. I have learned to notice when my anxiety is high, and try to deal with it instead of ignoring it and hope it goes away. I never used to talk about it to anyone, because OMG WHAT WOULD THEY THINK!! So the stress would build. I now know I can't bottle everything up inside or I will certainly have an attack. Also, if you are not feeling well, or if there are family problems, all kinds of life stresses that intensify our anxiety. I honestly believe that we are all hyper sensitive people as well. In my case, I tend to "FIX" everyone else, and forget to work on me. (I'm working on it *smile*)

STOP! you are not crazy. There are tooo many people here that feel just like you do. I have and get all those same symptoms that you do. Sometimes in the car driving it just hits and scares me so bad because I am afraid I will black out and wreck. I never do, of course. Nor have I actually had a heart attack, or vomited in public. I have not even found myself in a corner drooling. Each time I just get through it and finding others that can relate has been a HUGE HUGE bonus for me. We are here for each other!

Hi Rita, yes it is completely normal to feel some anxiety consistantly for over 30 minutes. Frequently after an intense panic attack I will feel a low level anxiety for days after. The symptoms change around from tummy ache, to tight chest, to hot flashes, to dry mouth, etc. It is only panic that cannot be sustained at high levels. Like Sammi I notice anxiety lasts longer around my period or when I am run down. I just try to take care of myself with the tools I have learned until it runs its course and when I need to take a xanax at the worst of it. Hope this helps. Rachele

Rita, Yes, I do get the constant feeling that does not go away after 10-30 min. I have had times when it lasted for 3 or more days straight. My symptoms change too. When I get this "neverending" anxiety, its usually during or near the time that I'm on my period. I have panic attacks and anxiety all during the month, but its definately worse for me at that time. Have you noticed any patterns with your constant anxiety? I have had this for over 13 years now so unfortunately I've had lots of time to figure out when mine is at it's worst. Good Luck, Sammi
