Unhooked Thanks for the cudos, but in reality I have been wrong more times than not and I think I learned more from those bloody missteps than I ever did from getting 100% on my life guide test... By the way I love the martini glass motiff... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 188 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,640 Amount Saved: $1,316.00 Life Gained: Days: 34 Hrs: 8 Mins: 53 Seconds: 24

Bresmama, Welcome to the SSC! We are glad to hear that you really want this quit as that is often half the battle! In addition to working the online quit program, we would encourage to write down your reasons for quitting and keep them close for review when times get tough. If you ever have any questions, just post. We're always happy to help! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hi, bresmama, welcome to the SSC & congratulations on your decision to quit. Nonic is right, it can be more difficult in some ways if you're around someone who smokes but it can be done, there are people here doing it. And nonic is also right that this is YOUR quit & it's your resposibility to do whatever you need to do & give yourslf whatever will make it easier. This site has made it much easier & a more positive experience for me & I hope it does the same for you. Hey, nonic, you ever get tired of being right??? bresmama There are people here who have the same situation i.e. smoking spouse or others living in close proximity...For better or worse that has not been my problem (there are advantages to being a reclusive loner)...Just kidding I actually do rub shoulders with other humans from time to time... Perhaps someone who is living under similar conditions can speak more appropriately to your situation. However, I will tell you this...THIS IS YOUR QUIT...You must in some way seperate your spirit and will from anyone else in your life...They will understand your need for solitude in this on some level, especially if they are smokers themselves...If they don't, well, then it will just have to be. You have set out on a wonderful and from time to time difficult road. The ultimate reward is more than worth the effort, however, there will be difficult times. You will be tempted to return to the old ways, but in the same moment you will be being reborn into new ways...Always pursue the latter course no matter how much your mind says to go in the alternative direction...That is just the junkie in you speaking...Never forget for one minute that we are all addicts, mired in a repeated behaviour pattern that has over come us in the past...This is your chance to be victorious, this is your opportunity to alter a suicidal course toward self destruction... Seek your own freedom, the ones in your life that love you, will cherish you all the more for your resolve... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 188 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,640 Amount Saved: $1,316.00 Life Gained: Days: 34 Hrs: 8 Mins: 20 Seconds: 56

Welcome to SSC Bresmama and congratulations on your decision to stop smoking. If you haven't already, work through the online program offered by this website. Stay close to this website, post, and read as much as you can. That really helped me a great deal during the first few days. Learning about what to expect and what was happening to my body helped me a great deal. I'm a Chantix user also and it helps a great deal. Hard candy, gum, suckers, sunflowers, and using a straw to drink are a few suggestions to help you along. Take very good care of yourself while your body begins healing. Stay close and let us know if there's anything we can do to help. Hi everyone. I am officially a non-smoker. I've been taking Chantix all week, and today is my quit date. But gosh..its been a REALLY tough hour. My hubby smokes, and though we don't smoke in our house, when he went outside this morning I wanted to go out there too SO badly. But anyway...I really hope that the rest of the day gets better. This is really really hard but I want to quit this time. I'm really excited to be a non-smoker! And I'm glad to be here :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 35 Seconds: 37
