NONIC you write, 'You will find that there are individuals with whom you will resonate here...It is actually quite an interesting demonstration of the law of universal returns. As you grow in your new freedom, you will share with and aid others along the way. This in turn will strengthen your spirit as you move on to higer and higher levels of liberation' .. sums it up for me! Thanks :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 498 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 14,940 Amount Saved: 3,735.00 Life Gained: Days: 80 Hrs: 0 Mins: 56 Seconds: 45

I agree 100%...If you want to quit smoking, the best thing that you can do is come on board and start sharing your experience...You will find that there are individuals with whom you will resonate here...It is actually quite an interesting demonstration of the law of universal returns. As you grow in your new freedom, you will share with and aid others along the way. This in turn will strengthen your spirit as you move on to higer and higher levels of liberation. This journey is all about going "further up and further in" (thanks to CS Lewis on that one)...Much of the addiction lies in the mind, in the form of learned behavior and also in some cases (I am raising my hand) as a form of self medication...I am a prime example of an addict who smokes to dampen emotions and mitigate the symptoms of depression. I have had to put myself through an extreme form of behavior modification (not recommended for sane individuals)...in order to get this far...And I AIN'T GOING BACK...for nuttin'... This is one rough addiction and you need all of the help that you can get in order to overcome its effects. By writing about your travels here, you will be diffusing your pain, as it will be heard and recognized by many individual readers. You will come to know very quickly that you are not alone and that others are struggling too. And it is that understanding that will help you move forward... So roll up, roll up if you are ready to go "further up and further in" nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 182 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,460 Amount Saved: $1,274.00 Life Gained: Days: 33 Hrs: 8 Mins: 19 Seconds: 31

True that! Lurkers - please understand that although you may read others post, we could not assist you unless you join and post. I guess the program directors will state that - but helping others always seems to help ourselves the most. I agree those who smoke want to quit, I was sick of having bad breath, spending money, my car stunk. I always smoked outside, so my house was O.K. Also it hit me as funny, my smokes money is still in my wallet, I would usally but a carton on sunday on my way home from work. Woo Hoo.... So far so good. I did the online quit program first..set my quit date..and then started posting for help and support, sharing common experiences of quitting and learning to rejoice in each day smoke free, instead of lamenting those poisonous sticks. Set that quit date and get going! You will not regret it. Everyone who smokes wants to quit. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 720 Amount Saved: $150.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 3 Mins: 26 Seconds: 10

Lainey's right. Helping others is a vital key to succeeding in your own quit. Everyone at SSC has one thing in common; we're all here because we're sick and tired of being controlled by an addiction... and we've joined with one another to defeat it in our individual lives. We all want something better. If you want something better, join us. We're stronger together than alone.
