Hi Nibey, congrats on your final quit. I have also tried to quit many times before. I'm more positive and optimistic this time and I think it's because I've done tons of research about nicotine addiction and understand it better. I'm not giving myself an out by thinking it's OK to have a puff or two here or there, I think that's what tripped me up before because a puff or two leads to a cig or two and then it's all over. Stay strong! This time, I am more positive, and have learned a lot about the addiction of it. I look at smoking completely differently, as the problem that is causing the craving rather than the solution to make the crave go away. Also, when I think of smoking or have a crave, I don't try not to think about it. I pick it apart, like why now or imagine having a conversation with it. I am also using Chantix, but I forget the evening dose half the time now. This quit has been easier and different than any other attempt I have made. HI, Nilbey. welcome to the site. I'm still kind of a newbie myself but the reason I feel differently about this quit than I did about my previous 7,462 is this site & the people here. I've been able to look at my addiction in a different light & get help, advice & support that I didn't know I needed before. I am ready to live my life as a non-smoker because of that. I hope we can as helpful to you. Nilbey, Hello and welcome to the site. This is my fourth (and final) quit attempt. For me this site has been a tremendous assest to my quit- I have found that whatever stage of quitting I am in there is someone going through the same thing as well as long time quitters there to tell me I can do it and what to expect. I think hitting 40 this year and listening to my 10 year old ask me when I'm going to quit were big motivators for me. Also this time around, I'm focusing on the here and now- it's still too hard for me to think of not smoking FOREVER, but I can wrap my mind around not smoking for today. Best of luck to you- keep us posted Dupe My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 80 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,200 Amount Saved: $256.00 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 6 Mins: 27 Seconds: 8

This is my 3rd attempt to quit smoking, but I realized that this is the first time I haven't had to convince myself that if it gets really bad, I might allow myself to have one. This is the first time I've been all right with looking ahead and being a non-smoker, with no panic that I might never light up another cigarette. I'm using the gum for the first few weeks - less than directed, but it's helping, and I'm excited about quitting! Even on day 2, feeling like crap and extremely "spacey", I'm excited. I don't know - for those of you who've been successful quitters after trying a few times, was there anything significantly different about the quit that finally worked?? Thanks!
