Hi What, and I agree with others you are not a dummie or you would not be here again would still be puffing away, and you aren't! Glad you are at this site as it is the best there is, I could not have done it this far without the suppor of all he and doing the workbook. I smoked for 50 years, stupid ones, tried three other times, cold turkey, didn't work, this time on the patch and almost done with them. I think the whole thing to this one is I was finally ready! no matter how many times don't ever quit trying! NOPE! many hugs and prayers, Bobbi My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/27/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 55 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,650 Amount Saved: $137.50 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 1 Mins: 22 Seconds: 38

What a dummy, Congratulations on 8 weeks smoke free! You're doing well! Many members here have used Chantix to help them quit and step down from it. You can use the search engine to find past discussions. Some quitters a few days of adjustment, others do not. Be sure to prepare for your upcoming step down by bringing together a few coping strategies. If you need additional help planning it out, our quit program is a great tool to help you do that. Keep us posted. Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi and welcome! I am taking the chantix, and it has helped me quite a bit also. I am about 6 weeks into it, but I read it was a 12 week program, and you could even go an additional 12 weeks if you need to. From what I have read here, by the end of the 12 weeks, many people were forgetting their evening dose and they quit and didn't have many problems. I also quit for 3 months before and stupidly went back. I thought a few couldn't hurt, but I found out also, there is no such thing as a few. Hi, What. Your story could be mine except the cold turkey part. I also started again after long quits ( & I'm sure many others here did, too) in a sressful situation thinking "it's just one". HA! It's never just one. This site & the many long-time quitters here have lots of excellent info & ideas for preparing yourself for those situations. Please take the time to do the program, I am so glad I did. I feel more postive & confident that this is my last quit than I ever did before. Welcome & good luck My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 140 Amount Saved: $77.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 16 Mins: 58 Seconds: 28

Hey What That was quite a quit you had going last time. So, I would guess you can do it again. As for the chantix. The recommended course is 12 weeks. Unless, of course there is some medical reason your doc wants you off it. I was thinking about reducing my dosage a litle while ago, and looked closely at the literature that came with it. I wrote down what their studies showed in terms of abstinence rates post-treatment in a thread called "weaning off chantix/halfing the dose" in the Common Support Questions forum. I just bumped it up for you in case you're interested. There are many people here to support you in your quit. Hello, what a dummy---your not anymore....look. DO YOU want to quit? Then you CAN do it! Take it as it comes...There is lots of good insight here on the boards. You need to list the reasons why you want to this quit. List the reasons why the quit last time on your last quit. Be honest with yourself. Then think of the ways to make this quit be final one. And yes I do believe take it or leave it. I choose to leave it. I take it one day at a time. You can too! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 500 Amount Saved: $112.50 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 2 Mins: 37 Seconds: 10
