I think I'm ready

I know it's scary, but it's one of the best things you can ever do for yourself! Have you talked to your doctor? Some people use both a prescription and an NRT such as the patch. I'm on wellbutrin and am doing very well after smoking for 26 years. Check out all your options and find what you think will work best for you. One other thing that really helped me was a book by Allen Carr, called the Easy way to quit smoking. It really clicked with me and made me look at quitting in a whole different light. Might be worth checking out. I have heard other people say it helped them too. You can do this! Banana, Welcome to the SSC! You've made a really important decision to change your life! Be excited, embrace your quit like a newborn baby and protect it with all your might! It sounds like you are already working the program, learning that smoking is an addiction like any other! And you've got your reasons to quit! The best advice I could give is to read posts here, old and new, and learn why this is a difficult journey. I do not know anyone that has said their quit journey was easy BUT Everyone will tell you that its worth it! And you can do it! Banana, its OK to be scared. I think we all were too. But you know what, once you jump in, the fear goes away. There really is nothing to fear, and you'll feel soooo much better. I think you've just made one of the most important decisions you'll ever make! Congratulations for that alone!!!! Just wondering, are you planning on using any NRT's? Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 643 Amount Saved: $189 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 47 Seconds: 50

Hi and welcome! Don't be scared. You can do this. You already know it's very doable. Reading your post makes me think of the game "russian roulette", and that's scary. You certainly don't need someone like me to tell you what this addiction will do to you. It's time to put YOU back in control here. C'mon, we'll help you get there. It's a matter of attitude. You can do it! How can I help? Banana, You're on the right track! Focus on trying to make your smoker's diary as accurate as possible. This will help you in your planning later. Don't forget to look at your emotions. Are you bored? Are you needing to take a break from a task? Are you sad? This will also help you understand your addiction more in depth. Keep us posted. Banana, Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on deciding to quit. Many have felt just as you do now and have gone on to have successful quits. It can be challenging but luckily you have a whole world of people cheering you on & advising you every step of the way. Work through the program at your own paced. The more prepared you are the better. Some quitters set their quit date the next day, a few days or a few weeks. The choice is yours. If you have any questions, just ask us. Let us help guide you through this journey. You can do this! Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team
