emotional punch

20 days free!!!!!Hooray!!!! This morning the demon hit me with a new attack through my emotions. I had an emotional bout that brought tears and a real bawling session. I have two sets of grandchildren, the older three are between 23 and 16 and the youngers two are 5 and 3. The oldest young man is in the Army, possibly going to Iraq within the next 6 mos, the oldest girl is 21 going soon into the Air Force and the youngest girl is sixteen. For Valintines I made the two girls and the little ones fabric valintines boxes with goodies inside. The oldest girls got earnings and of course chocolate and the youngest girl a Valintines teddybear, the 3 year boy a couple of little cars and lots of chocolate. The youngest ones call to thank granny for the presents but the two older girls never called. I called this morning to make sure they had received the boxes. And I was informed by my son that he or his wife had been too busy to call and I asked why couldn't the girls have called. My son had to force the youngest to get on the phone to talk to me but it was obvious that she could have cared less. By the time the oldest got on the phone I was an emotional wreck and could stop the tears and had a difficult time talking to her so I told her to be careful and told her that I loved her but I had to let her go and hang up. Our son called right back and my husband answered because I was crying so hard. The son made excuses and my husband told him to forget it and this just hurt me more. After they talked my husband came out and consuled me. What an emotional mess. I sure hope this doesnt last long. Well I've vented long enough, I'm going into my sewing room and working on the quilted wall hanging I'm making for the daughtere in law, who can't be bothered. I'm just feeling sorry for myself and that's not like me. Love to all, stay strong. Jaybird'slady :)

Good Morning: Thank you for the comeback. Everything is back to normal for me this morning. The sun is shining and here in Wyoming the temperature is 47 degree's - we're having a tropical heat wave!!!! I've put what happened yesterday behind me. I have to concentrate on my quit and overcome any emotional roller coaster that comes my way. The situation with my older son's family may never change and obviously I cannot change their way of thinking so I'm going to move on. Thanks again for your support. Love to all - Jaybird'slady. Jaybird - I'm afraid that galeh is right...sometimes young people don't recognize the importance of acknowledging a gift. I don't have children but when my nieces and nephews were little grandma and I were an extremely important part of their world. Now they are all growing up. While we still have a special place, their lives a full with friends, jobs, school, sports, boyfriends/girlfriends, etc. I'm so sorry that you were hurt. Hopefully your son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren will recognize that they have hurt your feelings. In the meantime, when we are quitting the hurts, slights, etc seem to have a bigger emotional impact. Sometimes we cry, whine, holler more than usual. Hope you feel better soon. Jaybird'slady, First off, congratulations on 20 days! With regards to your crying this morning, think back. When you were a smoker, what you have done instead? Hide behind a cloud of smoke. Now that you've quit, you can't do that. So cry, it's okay, let it out. In time, you'll learn new ways to cope with your emotions. You can maybe start with journalling? Hang in there. Congratulations on your 20 days, that is so awesome for you. The kids now days just don't seem to understand the simple phrase of thantk you and how much it means. Don't let them get to you, you are a good person and your quit is most important right now, protect it and enjoy it. Go do something nice for a nice person!!
