Wow. Thanks so much for this post. I was going to come here and post my 3 years but thanks to Mr. Ed it was already posted. I hate to come just every once in a while but I think it's good to let the newbies know that it can be done and it is still important to celebrate the accomplishment!
Three years, ya'll!!!! It has gone so very quickly. How did I do it? One day at a time and I was serious about all the instructions I got from the SSC. I did them all. The committment, the reward system, the comraderie, etc. I used the patch too. I lived on this site and it and the people was instrumental to my success. There were times I might have cheated but I just couldn't think of restarting my quit meter or dissapointing someone, or returning all my quit rewards. (See...that's why this stuff works). I made some great friends here 3 years ago that I recently even met. :)
You may recall that I teased a lot about being a big haired Texan with a passion for Red Boots. ? Early in my quit, I spotted a pair of gorgeous red sexy boots HALF PRICE. But even half price, I thought they were quite the luxury until I looked at the calendar and remembered it was TWO months quit for me. I snatched them up as a two month reward and posted about how wonderful they made me feel. For some reason, everyone remembers those red boots and it became my calling card.
Three years later I am happy to say I am still smoke free. I am still rewarding myself on special anniversaries. This year was very special....I marched myself down to the Tattoo Parlor and got the hottest looking pair of red boots tattooed on me. These boots represent a can do attitude, life life, enjoy and kick A**. The tattoo is a constant reminder of something I succeeded at. It makes me feel I can do anything...which is true; you only have to begin.
If you decide to quit, make your quit a priority in your life. You won't regret it. Stay close to this site and just do it! Remember NOPE. Not One Puff Ever.
This just turned over to three years today...I want to post it. Three years, 18 hours, 54 minutes and 45 seconds. 32903 cigarettes not smoked, saving $5,758.13. Life saved: 16 weeks, 2 days, 5 hours, 55 minutes.
Thanks, Big Haired Red Booted Pammisue
