Thank you so much Butterfly Swimmer! You are exactly right. I will continue to stay smoke free and worry about using the gum later since I'm still early in my quit. Thanks again and have a great day! Thank you for the quick responses! I'm using the gum and it is 4mg per piece. I used to smoke Marlboro Lights and probably smoked about 15-20 a day. I've been trying to alternate between the gum and regular sugarfree gum, and wanted to see how it compared to the amount of nicotine from the cigs. I feel like the gum is helping a lot with my quit, and will continue using it as directed on the package, but don't want to get hooked on it. Does that make any sense? I'm always open to any suggestions others have, so please share if you have any. Does anyone know how many milligrams of nicotine are in a single cigarette? My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 279 Amount Saved: $72 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 50 Seconds: 32

I think you're doing the smart thing by alternating them. You're pretty early in your quit... right now, I suggest just worrying about staying smoke free right now and using the gum to help you do that... when it's time to quit the gum, you might find that it'll be easier than you think! Don't worry about that yet, though. You're doing great! Crave the Quit! It depends on the cigarette (regular, light, ultra light), how hard the smoker inhales and how many inhalations the smoker takes. There are usually 4mg of nicotine in a cigarette, however most of that is evaporated into the air - the average smoker gets about .5mg to 1 mg of nicotine in each cigarette. Hope that helps.
