Welcome Beanie! Sleep interruption is definitely something I've experienced. I try not to have any caffeine before bed. Now I'm trying chamomile tea. Hang in there, soon you'll be sleeping like a baby. Cheers, Jan

Welcome to SSC Beanie! Disturbed sleep patterns are something I've read a lot about on this site. I must admit that I didn't experience this, since nothing would stop me sleeping - my mother always said that I'd be able to sleep on the washing line!!! Our quits are all different - but we all share the same goal, to be rid of our addictions! Be strong, it will get better! beanie, Welcome to the site. Yes I think most of us have had trouble sleeping. It something that has to do with what nic did to us. Sleep may not be regular for quit some time. Melatonin can help, but make sure you talk to doc if you are takin other meds. It is natural. Sleep is important the first week. Congrats on a great decession to quit smoking. Read and post often. This site can make a huge differance. Keep coming back......YOU CAN DO IT ... Hey Beanie; I was a cold turkey quit too and waking up multiple times during the night happened to me. The shakes, sweating, etc went on for 3-4 days if I remember correctly. But we all vary to some degree. I also had aches & pains, and day 3 & 4 was really bad when it came to trying to concentrate on something. The initial week is pretty weird but day 3/4 I couldn't follow anything for more than 5 minutes. It all passes though. Ummm . . . what were we talking about? :) Hang in there, Ericon My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,201 Amount Saved: $449.5 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 1 Mins: 44 Seconds: 34

Congrats on your decision to quit smoking. Knowledge is power, so get prepared. Get prepared for your mind to deal with emotions without the mask of a drug. Know that the nicotine in cigarettes has caused you to be physically addicted. Take comfort in knowing the physical withdrawal will stop approximately 72 hours if you can resist nicotine products. Be fully aware that your life routine will have to be experienced without smoking cigarettes for you to be quit. So throw them away. Do not save any. What is your routine? When do you smoke? Make a list of your triggers (when you would normally smoke). It is better to think about all of these things ahead of time so that you can go into battle prepared. Replace your bad habit (smoking) with good habits. Read about healthy ways to deal with stress/emotions and start practicing your new coping skills. Get yourself ready physically by walking more, take in more fluids, get plenty of rest and avoid becoming overtired. Tell people around you that youre going to quit. Get yourself a Quit Buddy who will be there to provide you personal quit-smoking help and support. Fight the urge to protect yourself from looking silly if you dont make it all the way. Believe in yourself from the very beginning. Make it come true. If you dont make it this time, what matters is that you get back up and try again. Also, dont forget to make rewards a part of your plan. Quitting takes a lot of work, so you want to make sure you give yourself credit along the way. Keep a list of rewards you look forward to - it will help keep you motivated. Watch out for alcohol, social situations, other smokers, weight gain, and bad moods/depression. These things can make you fall off the Quit Wagon. Like Ive said be prepared for these things. Weve quit. You can too. Well be here to support you if you need us. I look forward to celebrating your milestones with you.
