KJ, I just relized that we have quit for the same reasons. I always new that i would quit smokeing when i got pregnant. My husband and i have been trying for a year and it hasn't happened. My doctor believes that is due to smoking cigs. I went out and bought a pacifier and keep it with me at all times to remind me of the ultimate goal! It hasn't made the quiting easier but it has helped to keep me focused. I feel so guilty for wasting a year of hopes and dreams for baby on countless packs of filthy cigs. May god bless us with the strenght to overcome our addiction and then bless us with the miricle of having babies.

48 hours, that's great! Congratulations. My first 2 days were a living nightmare. Then I got on line and read that I was feeling exactly how I was supposed to. It got better after that. I just posted my feelings on not gaining weight. Hope it's helpful. Keep in mind that it takes only 2 weeks to get past the physical cravings. After that, it's all emotional! You can do it!!!!!!!!1 My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 787 Amount Saved: $52 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 2 Mins: 57 Seconds: 30

Hey guys you are doing the right thing. R u pregnant or just trying. Such a good idea to quit before hand and have alittle time in most. Alot of poeple who do quit while pregant end up starting back after kid is born. I guess you really have to want the monster gone for good. I went threw 2 pregs, could not stop. I would do okay, then get upset. Start again. It's junking thinking. You will still be upset if you smoke. Really you just need the time. Go threw the steps to left. Get prepared. My 3rd day was physical the worst, but day1+2 was emotionaly the worst. Everyone is differnt though. I am on day 8 really I am doing ok.It gets better. I have a smoking hubby, he has no idea either, how hard this is. Good for you. I am a Patsy Cline fan and read that she quit smoking with each of her two pregnancies (probably because smoking while pregnant made her sick), and I wondered if I could quit smoking if I were pregnant? If being sick would even stop me. Hi well you are still here and it will get easier each day especially with all the people on this site. I also worried about the weight gain and okay I put on a couple of kilos (about 5lb) but already I am back on counting points with that well known system! This was a very small and temporary price to pay for being free. Tip, eat sweet corn it has zero points and try those little sugar free hard candiesand keep busy, busy, busy. I am doing this with my husband and so far we have not killed each other! You're doing great. It's important to remember that when you were a smoker, you wanted to quit. Try to hang onto that when you think you miss your old lifestyle - because you don't. You smell better, you'll look better, and you'll feel beter, and there is no reasonw hy anyone would ever WANT to be a smoker. Just get that nasty poison out of your body and find the real you. You're going to be OK - everyhting is going to be OK. Have hubby do some reading here, or even read him some things. You may say some nasty things over the next couple of weeks, but DON'T let that foul mouth and stinking thinking become a new habbit!! Stay awair of what you're doing.. I almost did, so it can happen.
Not saying that I am, but is it normal for people to backslide?
Don't want to scare you, KJ, but Yes! Heaven's to Betsy, Yes! If you browse through the archives of past postings, you see "staying quit" (in other words, not backsliding) is a popular topic because it IS the difference between being a quitter and a smokerand it's the whole reason 99% of all of us are here. If you haven't already, you might want to take some time to read through the archives. Lots of good information there -- including how others are coping, supporting each other, and getting past their craves. Welcome to SSC, KJ. You can do this. Keep the faith, visit here often and crave your quit!
