Hi BermudaKid! Congrats on your decision to quit! Before you start try to read *Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking. He suggests you don't use the patches (which I did), but the main reason for reading it is because it lays bare the myth that smoking is in any way a pleasure and it certainly helped me during the early days of my quit When you start your quit - Use the SSC board to the full. Post WHENEVER you need help. Try to encourage others - this creates a positive buzz all round Reward yourself when you reach a significant milestone - I suggest each day for the first 2 weeks! All the best with your quit Mr Ed :) * nb I'm not Mr Carr's publicist My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,773 Amount Saved: 690 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 9 Mins: 49 Seconds: 28

HI Bermuda - Maybe think about moving that quit date up??? LOL!! Really, you are doing a great thing by preparing yourself - don't overthink it but have all the aids handy. A good thing I found was to print out the posts that "speak" to you and start a journal with them in there. That way you can refer back to them when you need to. Welcome and I know that you can Own Your Quit! We're watching ya, Shevie is right 'knowledge is power'. I would also add 'he who dares wins' so prepare yourself, mental attitude is 99% of the battle. You are definitely on the right track, bermudakid. Learn as much as you can about this addiction before going to war. Forwarned is forearmed. Knowledge is power.
