sorry to hear about your crave gone wrong :( for what it's worth, you probably learned tons of coping skills in those 107 days that you can use to stay quit forever. keep the faith!

Hey penquin, Glad you came back! This time when you quit think about how bad you felt when you had the setback--were you physically sick to your stomach? Did your head spin? How about the nasty taste of those cigarettes and the burning in your throat and lungs! Do you remember how your heart began to race and you felt spaced out, maybe shaky? Remembering those awful things might help you stay quit. And of course log on to this site and read, read, read. Penguin- I am so bummed about this. It shows just how tenuous our quits are. But the strength of will you have to break it and start quitting again is incredible. I'd be off the board, totally caved in to smoking. Maybe never quit again. But you're doing it. This sort of thing, to me, is the paradox of online support. I've never met you, I've never seen your eyes, I know nothing of your life except that you're trying to quit. For all I know, you are a penguin. But I feel something in the gut when someone on the site has this happen. You know what I mean. Congratulations in having the strength to come back! You are right it can be done, I had over 373 days under my belt from 10/08/2004 - 10/16/2005 when I went back to smoking. I had no reason to do it and it was completely stupid of me to do it. But it can be done forever taking one day at a time and it does get easier with time. Just remember that missing your old self is not the self that you want to be. So just remember that it still is a part of you but you are willing to make smarter choices now. Penguin, have been truly inspired by your posts and courage through your quit .. and was very happy for you when you landed on the beach :-) also having gone through an unsuccessful quit with my now ex-spouse ... looking back on it, that quit brought out alot of things that were wrong with "us" and manifested themselves in the following years... Save your quit if you can but I also want to recommend that you and your husband might want to start talking or go to a counselor ... it'll be good for you, your relationship and for your quit. Face the problems and try to solve them before it is too late. phoenix My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 37 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,116 Amount Saved: 277.5 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 14 Mins: 2 Seconds: 55

Penquin, Yeah, I'm so happy you made to decision to live. I'm so proud of you for picking yourself back up and saying I'm going to do this quit. Put your boots on and lace them up tight and get ready to fight. Another thing that impressed me is your honesty not only to us but to yourself. Keep up the good fight and know that we will all be fighting for you. Yeah Penguin. What a trooper. Glad you are back and looking forward to hearing from you. You are so very brave and you have to be the strongest Penguin I might know. Thank you so very much for being truthful and for showing me the way.
