Diva, sounds like you are coming around and getting organized and I am still celebrating that unconditional love that you have from your husband!  How awesome!  And glad to hear things are working out great and you and your mom are close.
Hang in there - let's go golfing???

Strenth see the other post re: golf!  I finally did it - even if for 4 hours!  Let's thave a party!  A grand affair with all the trimmings.  We deserve it.  Of course, I want it to be on a golf course - maybe the 19th hole!

I have been able to smile throughout my workday and eat lunch with my coworkers and joke around like I used to. I feel like I'm back in the game.

Has anyone ever felt something similar?

Lost:

Yeah, not doing too bad today.

I know what you mean about finding it difficult to come up with positives - there are plenty days when I feel that way, too. The things I listed this morning are all pretty minor, ordinary things really, and once upon a time would not have warranted thinking of as successes in any way - going to work, being able to laugh at myself, planning to go to a meditation class....but I'm trying (with varying degrees of success from day to day) to think with a changed mind, to somehow accept my current situation as being the way it is, right here and now.

By which I mean to acknowledge that at the moment I am not well, and work from that as a basis. Just as if I'd broken my leg I would celebrate walking to the bathroom, now my spirit is damaged I am trying to celebrate the small things of life, and see them as signs of the possibility of recovery. If through this acceptance of myself (not a permanent embracing of the disease, which is not me) I can learn to love and value myself again, then I believe I shall be on the way to getting better.

Of course, the depression, the sly old demon, talks to me, tells me I am pathetic:

"Why celebrate these little things.....what a loser you are....is that the best you've got in your life....you ridiculous waste of space....."

Some days I listen to it and join in, but there are some, like today, when I can answer back in my mind, and I know that it can be beaten.

Wow Pete,
It sounds like you are doing pretty good..... I myself am having a difficult time finding some positives.  I'm going to keep trying though.

Well done!

It's a cold, dank Monday morning in London, and I woke up this morning like a little dormouse, all wrapped up and warm in my bed. The last thing I wanted to do was get out of bed, endure the tube train full of coughs and sneezes, and come to work. But....here I am. At work. Imbibing strong coffee and preparing for the day ahead. Field Goal!

I've been thinking about myself, as I tend to rather a lot, and it came to me that my lugubrious talent for invariably belittling myself and putting myself down, for finding the downside to everything, is actually pretty funny. In fact really hilarious. Such lightness of touch and sense of humour when being introspective was a very welcome feeling. Touchdown!

I feel like I'm really starting to re-engage with my spiritual practice (in my case, Buddhism). I'm even seriously considering summoning up the courage to attend a centre and have some meditation classes. In public! With other people! Extra Point!

I just read back over this post, and I don't criticise myself once. It actually sounds pretty cheerful. Special Teams Play!

Thanks Pete! And yes, it was one productive day!

Yesterday:
-I helped my mom with mer moving stuff and it made her happy.

Today:
-I did a load of laundry.
-A friend started ragging on me about things I like and stuff I am into and I politely told him to go shove it where the moon don't shine! I actually stood up for myself!

Let's see,
1.  Great to see people are using this list
2.  I haven't felt overly anxious in 2 weeks
3.  I am not rushing to get anywhere after work
4.  I got my haircut (short)
5.  I died my hair (was supposed to be brunette but it turned a lovely strawberry blond)
6.  My bills are caught up
7.  My van is still working (and October has passed, one year and October's usually suck for me)
