Long walks, sewing or curling up with a good book...
These are my safe harbors..

Recently, I have been listening to Disney tunes. The other day I watered the flowers while listening to and singing out loud to a Disney song (A whole new world from Aladdin), My neighbors child enjoyed me singing, or maybe she was laughing with me. It helps though, when that doesn't work, I listen to orchestral music and concentrate on my breathing.

I find a nice, quite, dark  place to sit alone, as usually my stress and/or anxiety come from dealing with people at work.  I either listen to guided meditations, relaxing sounds (rain, waves, campfires, etc.) or just sit in silence.  I also mindfully concentrate on my breathing.....not changing it....but just concentrating on it flowing into and out of my nose and abdomen.

If I'm feeling agitated or really anxious, and can't relax enough by sitting quietly, I'll do yoga or go for a casual walk.

What is your safe harbour? Where do you go and what do you do when stress hits? In summer I weed my garden or do something with a tractor, In winter I make something in my shop or push snow around. Takes about an hour for the stress to go away. Everyone has something they do to cope, what is your strategy? How well does it work?
