Issue With Parents and Driving Phobia

10 years ago 0 96 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Not sure of my plan, hence why I came onto here. Parents in denial of phobia and do not follow rules set by my therapist. Nor do they want me going to therapy cuz it costs money.

I am using coping techniques taught to me at home.

What would be nice?

Living back in Canada, but that isn't possible.

I'm not open to saying which coping mechanisms but the days my parents don't nag me and I use the coping techniques I can drive farther.

I will be moving back to the east coast this coming week.

I'd love to get over this driving phobia that my parents feed into so that I can get a job and finally be on my own. I also feel my parents should never have moved from Canada cuz I was MUCH happier in Canada than I am in the States.

I'm using various coping techniques.

That sounds like a huge challenge for you. How are you feeling about it?

What is your plan?

My parents have told me I am now responsible to drive myself EVERYWHERE.

I told them I have a driving phobia and I am gradually working on exposure.

They told me

"The time is up on your driving phobia. It's been too long, you no longer have a driving phobia."
