Topic: What do you tell your children about your disorder?

How do you tell anyone what is happening when you don't know yourself? Especially if you think you have caught some incurable disease.

Tell them the truth. You don't know what is happening but you are learning and you will tell them more when you know more. Tell them it is not contagious and that it will go away in time.
Do not put a time line on it and do not tell them about your previous history. They don't need to know and it could start a core belief. EG: when I get to such age I'm going to go crazy like Mommy.

And last, never give them a reason to build core beliefs, love them and reassure them and support them in all their ventures. (attachment theory, give them a safe circle to work out of and come home to)

Do you come clean about your previous history?
Do you lie?
How do you approach the subject?
How do you help them from going down that same road?
