why is my response always Crying?

well, It is strange to me. I am feeling sad, but I know the physical withdrawals of nicotine put a strain on the body and the mind. Gosh, I remember when I was a smoker. My good girlfriend had quit smoking for one month. I picked her up at the airport after a vacation. The first thing she did was bum a smoke from me. I said to her, "why are you smoking after not smoking for a whole month? If I hadn't smoked for a month, i would never smoke again!" I was so naive about what quitting nicotine is like. I thought you would quit and in a few weeks, it would be all be over. Boy, was I in for an education. Here's to the day that we no longer have craves, think about cigs, or even want to smoke "just one". Believe me, I will know it when it gets here. It's quit a journey. When I cry unhooked, I'll think of you and your great sense of humor! new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $20.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 46 Seconds: 44

Day 2 really rough!!!

I feel ya Dee. I cry everyday. Crying does relieve stress through our tears. Won't this all be worth it to be smoke-free? No longer a slave to nicotine, having to answer every crave by inhaling poison into our lungs, jonsing for a fix when we can't smoke, spending lots of money to injure our bodies and our minds. Remember what it was like, Dee. You don't want to live a lifetime of slavery to nicotine. That is what will happen if we go back. (unless we try and quit AGAIN; you will have to go through this first week AGAIN). Take it easy. Think about the positive aspects of being smoke free. There is nothing positive about being a smoker. You can do it. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $20.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 47 Seconds: 53

Day 2- not really all here

Hi Nilbey, Being spaced out if common. Your brain is not used to getting so much oxygen. We are usually feeding our brains carbon monoxide with the cigs. It is so wonderful that you have not even considered smoking. That is the attitude! Just do not light that next cig and you will be a non smoker. This is all worth it. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $20.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 48 Seconds: 20

why is my response always Crying?

that is quit a mind picture, Dee. It made me laugh just invisioning the room full of quitting smokers crying. You know what, the days go by whether we smoke or not. We just need to let them go by as non smokers now. I think of past quits and say "gosh, if I would have stuck with it, I would be over a year free now. I would be free of all these feeling, emotions, etc". But, the same will be true months from now. We just need to stick with it, ride it out, be positive and thankful that we no longer poison ourselves with nicotine, and live our lives. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $20.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 16 Mins: 5 Seconds: 13

to tired to try any more

Cuddles, You are not bothering anyone. Have you smoked yet? If not, maybe you need to re-evaluate your decision. This quitting journey is complicated, hard, and tiring; but you know in your heart of hearts that it is soooo worth it. Can you do ONE day at a time? Yet having the hope that one day you will be a totally comfortable ex-smoker. There are those here who have "arrived". You can do it also. The time is going to pass whether you smoke or not. My best to you. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $25.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 12 Seconds: 6

Simple Terms for the Depression

In my past quits I have always experienced depression. Some of it is physical, some mental. This quit, I have vowed that i am going to just embrace how i feel and go with it. Using positive self talk about the benefits of quitting have helped me this time. When I want to smoke, I'll say something like, 'Oh yes, you want to poison yourself, destroy your lungs, waste your time and money, and become a life long drug addict". It helps. As for the depression, thanks for the info about the B complex. I have some in my cabinet that has been neglected for a while! I know that I will not feel this way forever. I am working towards physical and mental freedom from nicotine. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $25.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 13 Seconds: 17

I'm really tired and need help

Hi fullhse, We all sympathize with you. Quitting nicotine is a bit#@. Maybe you need to reevaluate your quitting plan. Are you using any NRT? Can you start the day by reading something about nicotine addiction and how to become free? This could cement your committment to being smoke free for that day. It is alot of work; but what is the alternative? A life long addiction to nicotine; enslavement to cigs; systematically destroying your heart and lungs. None of us want that. We are between a rock and a hard place. But, the good news is that you can do it. YOu need to believe that. I say, when you are ready, re think your quitting plan, re committ yourself, and travel the road to freedom. Keep coming here and getting support. You can take back control of your life. My heart goes out to you. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $25.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 15 Seconds: 1

It's been 5 days!!

hey monkee, i think that you need to have a serious talk with your hubby about your great desire to stay smoke free. this is your quit. ask him to refrain from smoking around you and to not bring any cigs into the home. has he done the online program here? that could help reinforce his committment. hang tough, girl. congrats on 5 whole days! see, you can do it! we quit one day apart, so holler if you need support! new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $25.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 18 Seconds: 35
