the bad penny

Hi its smee again .. Fag Ash Lil, having yet another attempt at this no smoking malarky - I cannot guarantee that I will succeed this time (I didn't succeed the last three or four times!) the only thing different this time is that my health has deteriorated and I have scared myself into stopping once again.  Also, reading back over some of my old chums posts has made me realise that I MUST try harder.  I have a few health tests coming up soon and I am hoping that I will be lucky.  I am now on my fourth day of no smoking ... although my stats clicks up only 3 days ... I know this will even out but I am gutted cos right now every minute is a bloody achievement :)  Oh! well onwards and upwards ... I am off to walk the dog and spend sometime thinking about my 'old chums' from here on SSC ( you know who you are xx)  I have no doubt that I will be back on this site around 7 zillion times a day - still ... whatever gets me through it ... again!!

the bad penny

The SSC was really helpful the last time around - it was great to log in and check out how everyone was doing and receiving those messages of support and encouragement was a boost - ultimately, there was nothing lacking in the SSC website, the only thing lacking the last time was my willpower.
I am not entirely sure that I would even be attempting this again if it were not for this website and all the never ending support I receive from some of the 'old familiars' and the 'new faces' alike.  It has been difficult looking back and reading some of the posts from 'old friends', however, this has also made me a little more determined to go for it ... and hope that I will be lucky, not in regard to my quit - because it is here that I will make my OWN luck ... but health wise ... my fingers are crossed.  xx

reset my quit date ;(

Hi.

Keep trying!! ... This is not my first time around here either - I have tried at least three times before this. Everyone here is great though ... no one seems to mind how many times you bounce in and out, they are still here to support you regardless ... I suppose that's cos they all know how it feels ... having all been there at sometime or another!!  I'm gonna watch your stats move post those four days ... if I can do four days (and I am a real s**t quitter!) then you can do it too ... come on now ... you dont want beaten by a girl do you?????

Hi Folks

Hello Sparky

Nice to 'meet' you on day two of your quit.  I am a self confessed serial quitter ... although this time I AM going to do it!!  I have tried the lozenge, the patch, the inhaler, the chewing gum and the micro tabs - although not all at the same time :)  Have to say I have never tried cold turkey - I dont think this would work for me ... although it might if I had duct tape around my mouth, tied up my hands and then locked in a darkened cupboard for six months or so, I am sure that my husband would be only to delighted to assist with this particular method of quitting!!

I am currently trying the patch (again!) coupled with food, food and a little more food, alongside playing stupid games on the computer and wringing my hands at every given opportunity ... oh! and moaning and shouting (a little ... well ok ... a lot!)  but I have found that these methods have dragged me to day four of this quit

Keep us up to date with how things are going for you ... the good ... the bad ... and ... the ugly!!  You should put up your quit meter so you can see how well you are doing ... I think you get it in your profile ... but then again I could be wrong ... maybe one of the more 'experienced' quitters will keep you right with that! ... see you soon.  Keep at it!!

Lil x

You CAN quit smoking!

Hello Danno

I am a recycled quitter - this is my first 'proper' attempt for a couple of years.  I too have noticed the difference, I see sometimes 25 members logged on and yet no one has much to say ... but then I am a bit of an old chatterbox.  Some of my old buddies are still around and they did welcome me back, no problems there at all, so that was nice ... therefore I do apologise for not saying 'hello' to you sooner ... but as I said, sometimes I think that I talk TOO much and the other members will be sitting at home thinking ... "Oh God! ... not her again ... does she never SHUT UP??" ... maybe I'm wrong (although this does not happen often!) but I dont think that we need to have anything too profound to say before we decide to have a 'wee chat' on here - I am happy to listen to/read any old ramble as long as it has helped that person get through 2,3,4 or even 60 minutes without having a cigarette ... and if we can have a few laughs along the way ... all the better!!

Anyway ... stick around and show us how it is done ... there are plenty of newbies who need the support of our more experienced quitters (especially me!)

Luv Lil x

How long were you 'away?'  and was there something specific that made you come back this time?

Well ... welcome back and keep us up to date with how things are going for you ... vent to your hearts content.

Nausea

Ginger? - this is supposed to help with nausea.  You could try ginger and lemon tea maybe? I know that ginger helps with morning sickness but I rather suspect that this is not your particular issue!!! ...  I am presuming that the nausea is directly linked to your quitting smoking (you have not been over indulging in the cookie jar have you?)

Isn't it weird how so many of us experience such a variety of 'other' symptoms whenever we quit smoking - for me, my throat is really tight and swallowing is a bit of an issue - hopefully this will pass.

A Weary Woomin

So today my body and my mind are fighting dirty and  I need lashings of reassurance, hints, tips and good old fashioned wisdom to help with this.

Here is my list - feel free to help me out:

I am feeling depressed
I am feeling very panicky
I am super tired and lethargic
I have heart burn and digestive upset
but the very most annoying thing is that I have a very strange sensation in my throat - it kind of feels like i am being strangled (not that I really know what that feels like!) my throat is very .... tight and constricted??? and I have to confess this feels a bit frightening

is all of this quite normal?

Lil x
