Hi and welcome Revel,
I'm still using Chantix and quit 2 weeks after starting. It is suggested to quit after 1 week but because I smoked almost 2 packs a day for 30 years I was told to wait the 2 weeks. Either way before my quit date I already cut back to 3 a day. This medication as well as the support here made the quit almost too easy. I haven't had any withdrawals and few cravings. You can do it. Use the workbook as well and post often!!

Not sure why other than withdrawal and changes but I woke up at 4 am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I got up, put on water for my tea and realized no sugar. It seems like Mondays just don't agree with me. I've been kind of bummed out and figured I'd post. I'm still smoke free. I hope everyone else has a good day!!

Thanks Rusty and Josie,
After work and I pick up my daughter maybe I'll treat us to dinner instead of cooking tonight. I'm on my 3rd week of Chantix is it possible this is what why I'm up so early? I woke at 5 am yesterday and could not get back to sleep. Has anyone felt kind of bummed out using Chantix? The last time I used the patch and this has been better for me by far. I'd rather have the sleepless nights than go back to smoking again.

I just realized that this will be my first Thanksgiving in 30 years that I won't be smoking. I'm looking forward to tasting all that good food and not having to go outside and freeze to smoke. My family gets together at my Mom's and she doesn't smoke nor does she allow smoking in the house. I may be jumping the gun but I won't smoke today, tomorrow,N.O.P.E. I feel good and determined not to smoke ever again.
How many other will celebrate their 1st smoke free holiday? We can all do it!!!

Hi Jodi,
I know it's close to Thanksgiving but is there any chance you can prepare the meal this year and not allow any smoking in your home for the day? Your husband might feel better being in his own home. I wish you all the best regardless and try either way try to look at it in a positive light. You are smoke free and have over a month of not smoking. You deserve a reward and some time for yourself!!

I quit smoking after using Chantix for 2 weeks and and have 15 smoke free days today. I didn't experience the withdrawals that I did with the patch. The worst was the upset stomach. It was recommended that I take the Chantix for 3 to 6 months and if that what it's going to take for me to stay quit then it's worth the stomache ache! Congrats on 26 smoke free days!!

Hi Moss and Welcome
Just read your post and checking in to see how your doing today? I took a few days off work and with my daughter in school it is so nice to relax and doing absolutely nothing. This was my reward for making it past 2 weeks. You can do this and you'll find lots of quit buddies. Bear could tell you all about it. This site has alot of wonderful supportive people and animals. With their help we can all maintain our quits together!! Post anytime you need even just to check in. I'm also here for you!

I just wanted to share with all of you something that was suggested to me to help get through the cravings and some rough spots. I have a fish bowl at work and at home. In it I put pieces of paper with suggestions on things to do to get past those tough times. Simple things for work like clean out junk from my desk, take a 10 min walk break, Take deep breaths while counting backwards, Wipe down my desk. At home I put in things that last longer to get past the boredom, take a walk, Clean my daughters room (that'll keep me busy for a year), clean the fridge etc.... Most of the papers have things to get me past the craving. Any time I have a strong urge I pick out a piece of paper and do what it says. By the time I'm done the urge is gone. I just thought this might help out for some. It's helped keep my Cuban temper in check and the tears to a minimum. My co-workers and daughter helped me fill the fish bowl with lots of ideas. Best wishes!!

Hi Everyone,
I haven't checked in for a couple of days but I hope everyone had a great smoke free Thanksgiving. I had a couple of days spent at the hospital with my Mother so our Thanksgiving has been put off till she gets better and goes home. I haven't smoked even though it's been a few really long days. I missed sending my best wishes to you and had a couple of minutes to log on say hi and enjoy your weekend. I'm off to the hospital and will check back tomorrow if time permits. In the meantime smokefree and healthier!!
