newbkr,
I know exactly what your going through, same thing happened to me last friday night, with smokers and drinks. what I did is only had a couple of drinks found the 1 person that doesn't smoke in our group and stuck by her side. And when everyone went out side to smoke i smiled to myself because I didn't have to go out in the cold anymore.. Gum helps too.
I am not saying that what worked for me works for everyone but these are just some suggestions.. They also say that you shouldn't drink so soon into your quit. My thoughts on that are you have to live your life and can't be afraid that everytime you do something that you used to do with smoking that your gonna smoke again. Be strong!! You can do it..
kk had a great idea when she went out last weekend, she got an empty pack and put gum and stuff in it and wrote little sayings on it that helped her not smoke..

Hey Quiteordie,
I haven't had the coughing part but the not sleeping well I can relate to. The first week I hardly slept, I think it was the nicotine trying to get out of my system. Like going through withdralls. It will get better I am on my 11th day and I am sleeping fine now. Hang in there.. Congrats on 6 days, we made it through that rough one yesterday together!!!

You wake up thinking to yourself "did I really just somke that or was it a dream". And like you said, there thoughts not craves, fight it. :)

Neek,
If they were your friends to begin with they wouldn't be hasseling you about not smoking and calling you stubborn. They would be suportive and telling you great job even if they don't want to quit themselves. I say just ignore them.. Your better off without them trying to sway you back to smoking. Or start hasseling them everytime they come back from Break say something like oh gross you guys stink. Become one of those reformed smokers that all smokers hate, nag, nag and then nag somemore.. But don't give in never give in. We got through yesterday and we can make it.. :)
