Lady I was wondering how you and your Dad are doing. If you don't want to talk about it I understand, but just wanted you to know you are both in my thoughts. Good thoughts to the two of you. redrosie

Say it isn't so jan!! I will miss you, your quirky sense of humor and your lower case letters sooo much! Please pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again REAL soon. I need you here. I'm very glad though that you told us instead of just leaving. This way we can all say how great you are. Please hurry back to your smoke-free life. Hyriel, I really think you have so much on your mind right now you may be losing focus. Your quit is still so new it will be subsceptible to any stresses you have right now. Please try to keep the thought in your head of how important this is to you. Try not to worry too much about your boyfriend, he either is going to be around for you or he isn't. If he is pulling away from you, smoking is not going to bring the two of you closer again. Your son seems like he is at the teenage stage where he may get peer pressure to smoke. Think what a great example you can be for him.
Please try to take some quiet time for yourself, maybe tomorrow. You sound like you need a break. Just don't smoke while you're doing it. Keep Strong and let us know how you feel later. redrosie

Lady, I'm sorry things aren't going so well with his quit. I wonder at his hesitancy on using the patch. Maybe he thinks just having a few cigarettes a day is "quitting". Some people do. I think you are doing the right thing in letting him be. You have given him all the tools and encouragement you can and now the rest is up to him. I'm an optimist so I'm hoping he is cutting back to prepare for the real quit. Fingers crossed. redrosie

Good morning, Morningglory. I used the patch, but "stepped" down my dosage. I started at 21mg for 4 weeks, then went to 14mg for 2 weeks and then 7mg for another 2 weeks. If you are nervous and scared about going off the patch maybe it would be best for you to go to 14mg. My Doc. put me on this plan so maybe you could talk to him/her about what is best for you. I'm not sure where you live, but here in Nova Scotia my patches were minimal cost because I had a prescription. Maybe that is something you could look into as the patches are expensive. Still cheaper than daily cigs though! Hang in there Fran, you're doing great. 3 weeks already! redrosie

Hey everybody, I know there's a few of us out there that made a GREAT decision to quit smoking on New Years'. Well look at us now!! 80 days! and like the movie it feels like we have been around the world. Some "places" have been great to visit, others I would never want to visit again. ;p But we've made it and we've brought back some great souveniers. Healthy lungs, more money, longer life and a T-shirt that says... I'm With Stupid, But I'm Not!! :) I'm so proud of everybody. Next stop.. The rest of our lives. All Aboard!!!
