I went 7 months and decided a cigar sounded like a fine idea and it wouldn't bother me -WRONG.....nic addict, nic addict nic addict.
However, perseverance and I am a non-smoker. An ex-smoker. It took me time to get geared up to total commitment/abstainment but it is done.
Look over you tools here and decide to do it!

ok, here is the bottom line. Me and the Misses quit a couple of weeks ago. Whenever I have quit in the past I always gained a lot of weight, sort of a mind game that I played. If I gained weight, I would start back to smoking. Sort of a, "hey I do not like the way I look so I will smoke and deal with the weight". Yawn...predictable, I did it over and over again. Anyways, the misses (3 months) is a real pain when it comes to my weight and she is not giving me a break even after I quit smoking (I don't look bad). Of course she wants me lose weight for my "health". As a matter of fact, I do not plan to gain weight I plan to lose weight (yes for me not for her-lol). I am pulling every trick in the book. I know this is against almost all recommendations from those with experience, but I truly believe it can be done. More later....
Best Regards,
Mike

Thank you all for the great inputs and support. The other biggest change for me is I am in week 4 of the couch to 5K running program. I have never been a runner and it is amazing how well the body can adapt. That has helped me find a great replacement for smoking and is what is helping me with the weight and the smoking. As the duration of each run get longer, the longer I am off of cigs. I am on the 14mg patch and about ready to go to 7mg (in about 2 weeks) Running is one of my new focuses in my life along with a lot of other techniques obtained from this site. Again, thank you and congrats to all of you on your journey! Thanks for the snack ideas as well
