yet again!

Rosie, first I love the quote (will add to my list).  Secondly, I know what you are talking about.  I think I posted my boss said have I told what good job your doing lately.....and with tears springing up in my eyes.  I replied, please don't be nice to me today.  geez, I'm glad I work at a mental health facility.  However, I remember those days in the past when my response would have been the same as yours.  I don't know that I'm giving you something to look forward to, but at least you know you are not alone on this one.

media

Wildcat, I couldn't agree with you more.  I don't know where you are, but here we have ads that promote the stigma's surrounding depression and other mental illnesses.  There are also what I refer to as dog and pony shows.  Where they tromp people around who have a mental illness or mental retardation.  These people are telling how they manage their lives.  I don't think this is positive.  I am like you, I don't see people with other types of disabilities being led around sharing "their stories".  I don't think this does much to promote awareness and reduce stigma!  I am on a bandwagon about this, I guess you can tell that I whole heartedly agree with you and I shouldn't have gotten started on this subject.  I could go on and on and on....
On the up side, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who feels this way!!!!!

yet again!

Congratulations on your weight loss success wildcat!!!!!  I am struggling with that battle and admire your success.

I am sorry to hear you got lost.  It sounds like you effectively handled the situation. I wish I had an answer for you other than a gps system.  (which I refuse to get).  I don't think because we do something one time, we can assume we will continue to do it, but rest assured if it does, you handle it well!

Congratulations on your success at work!  You are meeting it and it is great when we get some positive feedback to support our efforts at work, at home or anywhere.  I don't do well with compliments but it sounds like you did great.

Hang in there Wildcat!!!! And keep up the good work!

Fear of Aging and Death

Pete, have you and did you have any success with it?  Just curious if it is something I could/should consider.

Hey

fubar,  first of all, the name, I'm sure does not fit you.  Everyone can improve and so can you.  You indicated you have to start digging out of the whole you dug and that indicates you have a ray of hope.  Welcome to the support group and I hope you find some help here and that we'll get out our shovels, too.  I look forward to seeing more posts and when you are ready - a name change.

Oh yeah, it does creep up, but it does get better (with a shovel or a backhoe, which ever you prefer).  I guess you can tell I like the analogy.

With or Without

Welcome Stardust,  I can only tell you my experience and that was I needed medication.  I know the moderators here have information about herbal remedies and some other participants as well.  I know the program by itself is very helpful and many people use CBT without medication to improve their depression.

We all work through our depression differently so I hope to see you around.  We learn from others.

Wishing for better things

Mom of 3,  I am sorry to hear you are having such a rough time.  Hugs and prayers!!!  I hope to see you around more frequently even if it's jumble thoughts.  You made plenty of sense with this post.  I am glad you got a break from hubby.  I'm sure part of your feelings were relief.  I don't mean that negatively but just one less person to have to deal with.  I'm sorry you are so down.  Stick around and don't get out of the habit of venting here.  I know for me, sometimes it is the only thing that provides some understanding and a place to go for peace of mind.

I have really missed you, guess you may have read some of those posts and already know that.

yet again!

Wildcat, sounds like your nutritionist is reality minded.  I've not had much success without them saying eat this this and this and not this this and this.  And the latter are my favorites.  I can see skipping a candy bar but not living without them forever.  I'm glad you found someone who works with you!  And congratulations on your weight loss success!

Hi

Howdy Nolan

Welcome to the site.  There's an old saying "it works if you work it".  I think that applies to the program.  And there are alot of great people on here with alot of insight and support.  I hope you find that as helpful as I do.  Look forward to seeing your posts.

I'm confused about when to start session 2

Nolan, It has been my experience that I complete one session and it's homework before moving on to the next.  Sometimes it takes me more than a week to get used to doing it or figuring out just how to do it.  do it at your own pace.  sometimes reading ahead may put the homework you are doing into perspective.  The most important part (for/to me) is taking my time and being thorough.  I thought "this is too easy" at first.  But later, went back and reworked some stuff.

The most important thing I can say is it helps to do it!
