Goofy, Congrats on your first day smoke free!!!! And I know what you mean, the thought consumes everything those first few days!!! It will get easier, I promise!! As for the ride home, take a different route so you aren't as tempted to stop......if its a place you stop at regularly and know some of the workers, tell them NOT to sell them to you, it's what I did!!! HA! Good luck to you! And keep us posted! The people here are so great! Congratulations! I had my last cigarette at 7 last night, and all I can think about is lighting one. I'd have to leave work to go buy a pack, but I'm hoping I can handle the ride home, and not make the same nightly stop.

Thanks everyone!!!! I think we need to reward ourselves for a job well done, after all, wasn't a smoke a reward.....such as "I will finish this, then I can have a smoke"......did it all the time....so I see no harm in rewarding myself for NOT SMOKING! Cross stiching.....GOOD IDEA!!! That would keep the hands busy, plus make a few Christmas givts!! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/23/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 150 Amount Saved: $22.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 14 Mins: 44 Seconds: 39

WOOHOO!! Marie!!! You're doing awesome getting through that first tough week. Keep it up, it gets easier & it's so worth it! AND make sure to reward yourself, you have earned something really great! Did Josh say something? I guess I was busy getting a little reward for making through another TV night last night & missed it. lol...all very good strategies, marie. When I first came to this site i remember people recommending breaking plates. Self talk was a big part of my tool box. Danno came up with a good one last night..those little cross stitch projects. I've been having lots of conversations with myself, ie. why would I want to go back to zero? is one smoke worth undoing all I've done and then have to start all over again? Those kind of conversations and I've been using lots of licorice, pretzel sticks, carrot sticks, and lots more deep breathing! And I've been keeping myself as busy as possible, puzzle books, games, reading, cleaning, scrapbooking, anything to keep my mind off it.......... I've also have a very large dumpster at my grandparents place and have been cleaning out my grandpa's garage/work shop.....so when it all gets to be to much, I go there and clean, hearing glass break inside a dumpster can be very theraputic!! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/23/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 150 Amount Saved: $22.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 14 Mins: 37 Seconds: 30

Look at you go, Marie!!!!! Tomorrow will be a week. Time to reward yourself for doing so well. What strategies are you using for the cravings? Well I survived the weekend!!! WOO HOO for me!!!! That seems like such a feat for me!!!! And I quit taking the Chantix last Friday, it was really bothering my stomach, so I decided to give this a try without out it. I've had a couple pretty good cravings, but have been able to overcome them!
