So Far, So Good!!!!

Marie, Try to reward yourself in other ways, like having a tea or coffee after a meal or going for a walk. The best way to avoid urges is to change your behaviour so maybe you could try eating in a different location or trying something totally new for lunch. Keep fighting those cravings! Great job Marie! That after meal smoke is tough. Maybe eating an orange? It gives your hands something to do, it can signal the end of the meal (like smoking did), it smells wonderful (your sense of smell/taste will be awakening soon), and they are good for you. Or chocolate! Chocolate helps many things :) I guess you go for a short walk around the office or the block, but I'd probably go for chocolate. Good for you, Marie! Maybe planning a different treat or reward? A special drink, a magazine? Crossword or word find book? A walk outside? a phone call? Anything that you like that will distract you from the urge. Keep up the good work! And plan for the evening My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 215 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,600 Amount Saved: $1,462.00 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 1 Mins: 7 Seconds: 20

Thanks for all the boosts today everyone! It is much appreciated!!! Took some Tylenol this morning, walked outside and got some fresh air, and the headache disappeared, thank goodness! After eating lunch has been the hardest point for me today, I really wanted that one BAD!!!! Took a lot of conversing with the Junkie in my head, HA! Any tips out there on making the after meal smoke easier? Brushing my teeth did not help at all!!!! And I've been counting hours today since I've smoked, that helps, I don't want to go back to zero and start this all over!!! Marie, Sounds like you're off to a good start! Good for you! Keep the cold water and your reasons to quit handy. Chantix really helped me! I am so glad I quit. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 94 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,820 Amount Saved: $451.20 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 11 Mins: 5 Seconds: 17

Marie, That's great. Relaxation strategies and a hot shower may help with that tension headache. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Haven't had a smoke since 10pm last night......and so far I feel OK other than a mild headache and feeling a little out of sorts today. No real bad cravings yet either, so the Chantix must be doing its job.
