Cigarettes Not Smoked

I hate to disappoint everyone but I have not had a puff. I got off the NRT, which made it somewhat worse. I'm still waiting for the cravings to stop. It's been almost a year and they haven't even had a hint of slowing down. Charel007 & Tryagain! You know the cravings do stop, as soon as you stop having puffs and stop taking NRT's. You have seen it here 1000 times, those who are still on NRT's and those who have a drag here & there still get the cravings! Get past it, get off the nicotine, figure it out! YOU ARE AN ADDICT! If you have one drag you will get cravings for more, if you continue on NRT's for too long, the cravings will continue. Learn from all of the quitters who have gone before us and paved the way. There is a reason that they tell you to follow the program on the NRT's and there is a reason that the motto here is NOT ONE PUFF EVER! Wake up and smell the coffee! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 296 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,400 Amount Saved: $3,122.80 Life Gained: Days: 36 Hrs: 3 Mins: 53 Seconds: 13

Christmas was a terrible day for cravings for me. I always have cravings 24/7, but Christmas day was worse than anything I've had in a long time. I finally took a couple of sleeping pills. As I held that bottle, I realized that with the whole bottle, I'd never have another craving. I'm so tired of cravings. It takes so much energy to fight through. By the time the day is done, I'm so exhausted with fighting cravings that I sometimes can't even take the dog for a walk, much less even think about going to the gym or doing anything for myself. It will soon be a year and I've mostly internalized the truth that the cravings will never be gone. It will be a daily battle that I will have to fight for the rest of my life. Yet, you know, I'm here to tell you that it can be done. You can want a cigarette and not have one. You've done it for quite a while now. Just take it day by day. No matter how you feel, just don't smoke. I got through Christmas day. If I did it, you can too. Well you already know that smoking or craving does not consume your life as you have demonstrated on your quit meter. I think the cravings will always be there to a certain point to remind you how strong you are to get over this addiction. Have a game plan in place as to what you will do when a craving comes on as it can be easy to be caught off guard once a good amount of time has passed. Remember NOPE as this really can lead you back to smoking and there is no point in letting all your hard work go to waste. You don't really want to go through this all again do you? I really do believe that the one puff can lead back to smoking as the nic demon will try to get you to crave again even from that 1 puff. You are strong and have many days behind you at this point, so just think logically about it instead of letting the craving think for you! Like I said, I think cravings will be around for a long time, but that doesn't mean that you want to give into them. Just think how much easier it is to snub those thoughts away today than it was in the first week! You've come a far way and you know that you can do this! Good luck to you and remember N.O.P.E! Chare, You are getting to the point where it isn't a crave.....just a memory. Our past will always be there. We remember lots of things from our lives. Just make smoking one of them. Your doing so great Mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 330 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,600 Amount Saved: $1,475.10 Life Gained: Days: 43 Hrs: 8 Mins: 57 Seconds: 32

charel- Take a peek at my meter below :) I still have thoughts every once in a while, but ya know what? It makes it so I never forget - that I'm an addict and that smoking can take my focus, breath and life away... Hold on tight and just don't smoke... Simple as that! Charel -- I so hope you are still hanging in there. As you can see from my Avatar - I am of the NOT ONE PUFF EVER belief system. Just one little innocent puff can lead to losing the quit. Aloha is right - laugh at the cravings. Don't let a little thought in your brain MAKE you do something. Just do something else! I lived on suckers for a LONG time and now I just dismiss the thought the instant it hits. Smokings isn't an option - EVER. Please let us know how you are doing! Good luck and hang tough!
