I blew it

Sorry to say that i have relapsed. I'm feeling sorry for myself and not taking good care of ME. I am sitting here watching my loved one go through encredible agony due to health reasone. We have to wait additonal week and 1/2 with this hell before we can get the surgical repair necessary. I am very exasperated with the medical ins and outs and yet I'm trying my best to show strenght for my other half. I know I should have posted before i caved in but i didn't. I let that ole demon get to me. Now I find it harder and harder to resist. Please help before I totally blow it. Mookie

Hi mookie, How you doing? I am just back from a week of smoking 2 or 3 a day. I had a hard time today, but i am back. Remember how you went days without smoking. Remember how good you felt? You can do it again and conquer this addiction. Hang in there with me, girl. Mookie, sorry to hear about your relapse. You're going through a lot right now and I'm sure the demon is really taking advantage of it. But you have to remember that smoking is not going to change anything. It won't speed up the time to the surgery, it won't make your loved one any more comfortable, it won't make the medical community respond any more favorably. It won't do anything except feed the addiction, instill feelings of guilt (you really don't need those right now), and just make everything generally worse for you. Forget the slip and let's go forward from here. Oh Mookie! Please don't give up on your quit! Just start fresh right now. Life sometimes throws so much at us, but it's importatnt to take care of yourself first...before others. If you are not healthy, how can you take care of someone else? I know you read my other thread. I wrote that ages ago! I've been quit since then...it's 18 months for me now!! I looked at all those things that caused me to fall and made plans to keep from repeating them. You CAN do this Mookie! Learn all you can and recommit to the quit. Get stubborn! Mookie.....Take everyones hand and don't give up on your quit....Medical issues have one heck of a way of testing us....And it is very stressful watching someone you care about struggle and hurt and everything just not resolving itself fast enough.Hang in there and think about what coping skills you can use to help yourself....Take Care...Shirl My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 434 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,688 Amount Saved: $1631.84 Life Gained: Days: 48 Hrs: 20 Mins: 59 Seconds: 18

Mookie, You have learned from this, so you can get back in there. Get out those coping mechanisms and continue on :) Protect your quit and know that smoking will not hurry the situation or make it better. We are always here for you and are not here to judge, we are ready when you are :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
