Welcome!

Congrats on over 21 days now! It sounds like you have the motivation to quit which is essential.

Drinking alcohol early in a quit is a risk. I am glad you realize this and you want to prepare. My advice is to take it easy on the alcohol. One drink/one water pattern will hopefully keep you in ok shape.  Ask for your friends support in this. You don't need people smoking around you or offering you a smoke without thinking or at a weak moment for you. If you feel the cravings are too much prepare to leave early if you have to. Your quit has to be top priority.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Hi Pete congrats on your success so far. Timbo said it all...drinking doesnt mix with a quitting smoker. I personally couldnt drink without smoking although l havent given up yet. You drank those couple of pints without smoking...maybe you can do the same at the stag if you muster enough strength. Or maybe steer clear of the drinking for now. Good luck!

Hi Peter,
Welcome to the site. Three weeks smoke free so far, good for you!  I wish I had some advise for your upcoming stag this weekend, but the only thing I can think of you already know. "tend to get loose after a few beers." Stay away from the beer. If anyone asks why you're not drinking, tell them you're the designated driver!!!   "My wife is due our first child soon and want to stop smoking." What a great gift to give your first born and your wife, clean air.
Let us know how you did at the stag okay?
Stay strong and I wish you the best.

Hi all, My name is Peter 35 UK. Have been a social smoker for 15 years, never smoke during the week but on weekends enjoy a few drinks and smoke while doing so. My wife is due our first child soon and want to stop smoking, to be honest don’t really even enjoy it anymore. Haven’t smoked for 21 days now, but only had a couple of pints one night in that time. On a friends stag do this weekend and it will be a messy session, I know this is going to be a massive test, as tend to get loose after a few beers! Any advice and tips would be great to help me navigate this hurdle! Cheers, Pete
