Good plan that getting into bed at 8:00 Mitch. It's really not cheating. First of all, you are shaking up your routine to alter triggers. Secondly, your body will need extra rest now as it's in a healing process. So good work!

Hey Smitty
Well I've just about gotten through day 2. It makes it so much easier when, I'm not around any smokers. They've been great (the smokers I usually hang around with), when they're going for a smoke they disappear on me, so I don't notice their missing and when their around their backing me. I think all smokers (except the young ones starting), don't really like smoking, it's just the cravings that bring them back. What I didn't realize till I quit: I thought the smokes I would miss the most were the first one in the morning and the few after that. They're fine, it's the ones after school's finished and the one after dinner that I miss the most. I cheated yesterday, I got me and the kid's into bed by 8pm. That's how I fixed that problem.
Keep going Smitty, we can do it!!!
Mitch

I am now addicted to a little plastic coffee stirrer.
Much much healthier than cigs and the best part is they are free!
I will deal with my coffee stirrer addiction at a later date.

Trust me, I definately know how you feel right now! I don't know if this will help you, but it works for me - as far as water goes, I'm early in my quit and everyone here has been so great, but I still have those moments when the urge to smoke is sooo tempting. I keep a bottle of water with me all the time, and it wasn't really doing the trick until I bought a bottle with the little nozzel thing at the top. I think it's the sucking sensation, but it has been an incredible improvement in the way it tames the urge. Good luck to you!

Thank you all so much. I had some time on my hands last night while I wasn't smoking ( yes!! pat to my back) and came to discovery. Its the cravings that scare me. As a fitness and nutrition instructor I dealt alot with craving from sugar withdrawl of my members ( as well as the embarasment of being a smoking person in the health industry. Anyway a long time ago I made it thru those cravings (it wasn't pretty, but I did it) I can make it thru these ones too, only this time it will be with support, and that makes it easier to breathe Thanks By the way Mitch I'll take you up on your deal
Smitty-- lots and lots of water I got ya
