jojo- At any cost try to set a good example for your teen. I started smoking at 14yrs, my dad smoked so he thought it was ok for me to smoke too.... I mean what could he say he does it. Now, 20yrs later I am now a 1 week clean from smoking. I wish my dad would have kept me from smoking at all costs, I hate this habit. My dad finally quit when he was 35yrs now I am 35 and this is the hardest addiction to stop. Lead by example is the best thing you can do!!!

Hey Misty, I am not sure about anything right now really. But I wanted to let you know you do have support. I am hating to hear that you are feeling this way. Maybe it is just the addiction trying to trump u up. I have always heard that it takes 30 days to make or break a habit. My hubby gave up drinking and about six months later he got these tremendous migranes. For like a month he thought he was dying. Went to countless Docs, had a slew of test. There was nothing wrong just his body trying to put itself back together. Healing. Like what my head and body r going through today. Anyway only a doc can say for sure. Just try to relax and not get so worked up about it, until you know what is really happening. Lots of love You will be in my prayers Grace

I don't know if I can tell you this, but look up "nutritional programs for detoxification". What I like is that it does say that withdrawals can go on for months. I also know that 72 hours is the minimum amount of time that it takes for nicotine to clear a system. I tried to quit a year ago, the withdrawals freaked me out so that I started back. I didn't feel a thing after having not smoked for five days. I had not fully detoxed yet. It isn't just the nicotine. There are 4000 other chemicals your body must get rid of. The craving will usually disappear after 8 weeks. I was told that it will be fairly safe to actually diet then. In the meantime, eat what I want but make sure it's low-cal. Phillip - we were typing at the same time. I just wanna say that I don't find your story to be frightening at all, and find it to be more inspirational, and I certainly do appreciate knowing that these things can happen to some of us, and that YES we can get through them. Quitting smoking isn't easy. I compaire it to childbirth. I've birthed 5 babies, so certianly I can make it through this too. Here's to 25 days, no money, one car, a beat up husband, and demanding children. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,398 Amount Saved: $325 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 22 Seconds: 25

Well, Thank you! All of you! I feel better today, and thing is.. i didn't sleep well last night because I was out on the road with my husband who just wrecked yet another of our cars (He wrecked one last month too - he's OK, just sore) and he called from the road to tell me about this while I was finally in the bathtub having a nice long soak and feeling better. I tried to be a B**** this morning.. honestly, i did. I complained. I'm afraid. We're more broke than we've been in years right now, and can't get another car. The kids have to be driven back and forth from after school programs and hubby will need the car. If I was in the same state I was yesterday.. I should be rather freaked out, and suprisingly, I feel OK right now. Scared, and stressed, but I meen - not like yesterday. That wasn't even normal. So - there goes my fear that i was having yesterday - that it was all about me not being able to cope with anything at all. I can cope. I do need to learn new things, and I do need to go on yet another journey of self discovery, but I can cope. Yesterday I felt like someone had rubbed every single nerve ending in my body with sand paper, and they were all awake and screaming.. "SMOKE! SMOKE! RIGHT NOW!" It was the worste it has ever been for me since I quit. This has happened to me now 3 times since I quit. It hasn't been a constant feeling throughout the entire experience and most days are relatively easy, but it does sneek up on me, and this time it lasted about a day and a half. Thank you for the heads up about 30 days and 100 days. I understand that some people can manifest withdrawal simptoms if you warn them about them, and that puts people in a tough spot. But at least now if I go through something hellish in another week, i'll just know.. "OK, it's just happening again, and it will pass, so let's just get through this." Instead of wondering if i'm having a stroke or gonna die, or will never ever be able to cope with anything. BG.. thanks for the search tip. Everyone else.. thank you so much for understanding, and for being honest with me. I read that whole.. nicotine leaves your body after 3 days.. blah blah. hell week.. blah blah.. heck week.. blah blah... weepy week.. yadda yadda yadda. So, what is happening to me now? Nicotine has been gone for 3 weeks now. i'm done with hell week, heck week, cry-y week. It doesn't seem like this should be this painful still. I just am in need of some answers.. i need to know what is happening to my body. I have a doctor appointment for later in the month, but even still.. he's just an MD, and not some smoking specialist. I would like to have some information. If you are not allowed to give me information, then I would like you to e-mail me some links of places that you trust to go read. i've been googling and reading, but there is so much contradictory stuff out there from people who want you to quit your way for their own reasons that I don't know where to find the truth. One site says that all i am feeling is cafein overdose, but I flooded myself with water and cut my cafein by well more than half. Please. Every fiber of my being is crying out for a cigarette. My nerves are all messed up so bad and it says in my glovebox thing that this is only for the first few days. It's been more than a few days. It hurts.. my whole body hurts from the tension. I layed down for a nap, and I felt like I had sunken into the bed and passed out or something because 2 hours later I couldn't open my eyes for long enough to wake myself up, and felt glued to the bed. I have this lump in my throat that says I either need to scream or smoke, and i'm not sure either would help me at all. I just would like some straight foreward answers. Is this STILL withdrawals or is it that i have absolutely no other coping mechanisms? That may be it. I'm under a lot of stress right now, and experienced a big disapointment, and I don't have the same kind of problem solving skills that other people have due to a bunch of trauma in my childhood. I've just managed to keep my mouth shut today so far but the kids are all home from school now and the drama is about to unfold, and then what? yesterday i snapped at the kids so much that I frightened my baby and made him cry. I would rather they all smelled like stale smoke than have an abusive mother. I feel
